What does authentic mean?
I've struggled for years, not so much to find my voice, but to actually use it. To be loud. "Nice girls don't shout," they used to say to me when I was growing up. But then they also told me that girs in general didn't DJ, and look where I am now. 😉
The sparks for my shows existed for years in my head, little jewelled secrets that I would take out at night, under cover of darkness, and hold up to marvel at. And I always knew that I wanted to make people happy, to play music so that people could dance and sing and feel joy. And I am so eternally grateful that I have the space to finally do that. 😍 And for every thank you that I get - thank you for making me smile, thank you for reminding me of happier times, thank you for giving me somewhere safe to rest in - for each and every one of those thank yous I have a thank you back. Thank you for letting me be loud. Thank you for letting me be authentic. Thank you for giving me the space to be me. Thank you for letting me play all this amazing music for you. 🎶 Thank you ❤️

We're saying a great big Happy Birthday to my partner @chibberdy on today's Flange & Frigate Show with DJ GeorgyGirl on @wfmu_sheenas_jungle_room on @wfmu! He chooses his favourite mod, psych, rock, and pop records along with some movies and a little nod to the "Carry On" films as well. And I put paid to the scurrilous rumours that Chris may actually be Dave the Seagull. Perish the very thought, Frigateers! How very saucy of you.

Today's Hi-Waisted Modernists with DJ GeorgyGirl on @wfmu_sheenas_jungle_room on @wfmu is our 100th show! And to celebrate I'm revisiting show #001 and doing a special reading of Saki's classic "Shredni Vashtar" complete with suitably spooky library music from @dewolfemusic, #StudioG, and #Bruton, plus some ghastly little sound effects along the way. Keep the lights on!

Today's LoriHajiTura with DJ GeorgyGirl on @wfmu_sheenas_jungle_room on @wfmu celebrates the music and the legacy of The Carpenters with cover versions by artists like Freda Payne, The Temprees, O'Donel Levy and more, originals by people like The New Vaudeville Band and Leon Russell, and deep cuts from The Carpenters themselves alongside some isolated vocal (and sometimes drum) tracks of Karen Carpenter. It's yesterday once more.
