This iconic steam train runs through the Scottish Highlands and crosses the legendary Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter films ✨

🚂 WHAT IT IS
• A historic steam train operating between Fort William and Mallaig
• Featured in multiple Harry Potter movies as the Hogwarts Express
• Passes over the dramatic Glenfinnan Viaduct with mountains and lochs all around

📍 HOW TO EXPERIENCE IT
Option 1: Watch it (most popular)
• Stand at the Glenfinnan Viaduct viewpoint
• The train crosses slowly — perfect for photos & videos
• Arrive at least 30–45 minutes early

Option 2: Ride it
• Board from Fort William
• Vintage carriages, open windows & old-school charm
• Journey duration: ~2 hours one way

⏰ IMPORTANT TIMING TIP
• The train passes the viaduct only at specific times
• Timings vary by season check the official schedule in advance
• Miss it by 5 minutes and it’s gone 😅

Things to keep in mind 📩

• This trek can be done solo or with a group of trekking company like I did it with @saroutdoors at a approximate cost of Rs. 6k-7k. and other miss, cost came to 4K 💰

• The gates to Valley Of Flowers open at the beginning of June. But the best time to visit is between August and September. When the flowers are in full boom 💥 🌼 🌷

• It is warm layers recommended to carry atleast 3 warm layers so as to be prepared for cold weather conditions. 🥶

• The trek begins from Govindghat, You can take bus from Haridwar/ Rishikesh till joshimath and then shared taxi till Govindghat 🚌

• You cannot camp at valley and you should be coming back to ghagaria latest by 5 in the evening. 🕰️

• The Valley of Flowers Trek is 38 km long. And you cover this distance in 4 days where you trek approximately for 6 hours every day. You also need to keep two days for travelling to and from the base camp of the Valley of Flowers trek. ⛰️

• Don't forget to be physically prepared and fit for the trek. How to get prepared? I recommend jogging 🏃‍♂️ as the best routine to get fit for a trek. It works on the same muscles that you use while trekking — your calves, glutes and hamstrings. It helps increase your stamina day by day. It is also an easy routine that does not require any equipment or tools.

It was a divine feeling to experience the larger than life ganga aarti at Dashashwamedh ghat. The energy… the vibes… The atmosphere…everything was beyond the words. People from all over the world were immensely involved beyond their nationalities, cast, gender and we literally experienced the proverb ‘वसुधैव कुटुंबकम’
