The Shearing Day sweater is here! 🐑✨

I’m so excited to finally share this design, a top-down compound raglan sweater with a classic stockinette body and a beautiful twisted stitch motif along the sleeves.

The compound raglan shaping uses unique increase rates for each size to create a more thoughtfully shaped upper body. I’ve also included something new in this pattern: an easy-to-follow table for each size that guides you through the changing increase rates, so you can focus on enjoying the knitting!

My sample is knit with DK weight yarn from @pradodelana, a small farm in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. I had the special experience of helping with shearing day for this very batch of wool in spring 2025, making this sweater especially meaningful to me.

The Shearing Day pattern is available now on Ravelry and Payhip.

All the details for Shearing Day are now available at the link in my bio, including yardage requirements, a full schematic, and everything you need to be ready for the pattern release on Wednesday, October 21st!

And if you’re heading to New York Sheep & Wool this weekend, you can see my sample in person Saturday at the @pradodelana booth (Barn 29, Booth 7–8) where you can shop for your own SQ of this very special yarn.

Driving home from pattern photos last night, hurrying to get dinner ready for my family, I found myself thinking about all the people who make up this creative community.

The designers, tech editors, photographers, yarn dyers, shepherds, sample knitters, shop owners, and so many others who are doing this work alongside all the other parts of their lives. We’re wearing so many hats, often juggling family life, other jobs, and relationships, all while finding ways to make space for the creative work we love.

There’s so much that happens behind the scenes, and so much care, time, and energy that goes into making this industry what it is. I feel really lucky to be part of a community filled with people who are not only passionate about their own work, but who continually show up to support and celebrate each other.

Just a little appreciation today for all of you who keep showing up, making beautiful things, and making this such a special place to be. ❤️

ps: I’m wearing my Shearing Day sweater here after meeting @jen_prat for photos, and I pulled over & parked to take this selfie 😉
