We design bras that are safe enough for the operating room, tough enough for a workout, and comfortable enough to live in.

Because most people associate breast cancer-related lymphedema with swelling in the arm or hand, swelling in the breast or chest often goes overlooked.

But lymphedema can also develop in your breast, chest wall, underarm, trunk, and even your upper back after breast cancer treatment.

After breast cancer surgery or radiation, lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes can become damaged or disrupted, making it more difficult for lymph fluid to drain properly.

This can lead to a buildup of fluid and swelling in the surrounding tissues, on the same side of the upper body as your breast cancer treatment.

What makes breast/chest lymphedema particularly challenging is that the early signs aren’t always obvious or they are often dismissed as a “normal part of recovery.”

So here are some signs to look out for:
✨ Visible swelling in the breast, chest, or trunk
✨ A feeling of heaviness, tightness, or fullness
✨ Changes in how your bra fits or feels
✨ Changes in breast size or shape
✨ Skin changes, including an “orange-peel” appearance

Whether you’re currently recovering from treatment or it’s been years since your breast cancer diagnosis, please know that persistent swelling and discomfort are not something you have to simply accept.

Treatment options are available.

One of the most effective tools for managing breast, chest wall, and truncal lymphedema is a medical-grade compression bra.

A properly fitted compression bra provides gentle, consistent pressure to help manage swelling, support lymphatic health, and improve comfort throughout the day.

My go-to compression bras are from Prairie Wear.

Comment “BRA” and I’ll DM you a link with the bras!

And if you notice any of these changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a Certified Lymphedema Therapist for more support and guidance.

You deserve to feel heard, supported, and comfortable in your body throughout every stage of recovery.

this is your reminder: don’t let someone else’s limits become your ceiling.

they said i wouldn’t get my life back, i say life has never been better.

fighting to get back to what moves you isn’t ungrateful, it’s the most grateful thing you can do. 🎀
