My convo with @preciousrayn during our group date with @bougie_ki @just_indo_ @bendaworld somehow opened a much bigger conversation 🛼 BDE. Masculinity. Leadership. Funny how differently we define them. When I told her she made me feel safe, I think she initially heard homegirl, but I meant something entirely different ‼️There’s something here, confidence and the way she carries herself that can make a man want to fall in line, not because he’s being controlled, but out of respect. To me, that’s one of the highest compliments I can give someone I’m considering as a partner. I’ve always believed real confidence rarely needs an intro. Somewhere along the way, we started confusing masculinity with control. But there’s a difference between leading and needing to be in control. Real leadership isn’t about having control over someone. It’s about having enough confidence in yourself to create space for someone else, that should go both ways. What stood out about our conversation was the mutual acknowledgement, the feeling that we both recognized something in each other that isn’t always easy to find, because being seen by someone you’re genuinely interested in is rare. Attraction doesn’t disappear when comfort enters the room, neither does masculinity when vulnerability shows up. I believe in leading, I also believe in reciprocity, in creating a dynamic where neither person has to shrink for the other to feel secure. Control can be loud, confidence doesn’t have to be. Maybe that’s the real BDE?? Curious what y’all took away from our date?
