Wanna send a shout out and big thanks to Ryan & Edwin @precision_r . Really appreciate the time, effort, and hard work you put into getting my GTI back on the road! I know my car was a problem child with that pesky oil leak but you all worked through it to pinpoint it and got it patched up. She runs so smooth and gonna be saving up for the next job that needs to be taken care of. 🙏🔧

Fresh rubber for the GR STI Time Attack build: Yokohama ADVAN A052s have arrived. 🏁

We’re looking forward to getting them mounted and seeing how they perform as the build comes together. Every detail matters when you’re chasing grip and consistency on track.

A special shoutout to 8Twelve Wheels and Paragon Brakes for being part of this build. We’re excited to keep bringing the pieces together.

Follow along as we get this STI ready for the next session.

Turn the sound on—you’ll hear this STI shed some weight. 🔊❄️

We’re helping Precision R prepare this 2012 Subaru STI hatchback for a time attack build. In this video, we place dry ice directly on the interior sound deadening. Dry ice sits at about −109°F (−78.5°C), and that intense cold makes the material brittle. As it’s lifted, the sound deadening cracks and releases from the floor. That snap is the material breaking free—not the metal chassis.

So why remove it from a race car? Sound deadening makes a street car quieter and more comfortable, but on a dedicated track build, it adds weight without helping the car go faster. Removing it also exposes the floor so the team can inspect and prepare the interior for the next stage of the build.

It’s a small detail in a much bigger project, and we’re excited to see what Precision R does with this STI next. 🏁

Fun fact: The STI hatchback has racing in its DNA. 🏁

In 2012, David Higgins raced a five-door WRX STI to a Rally America victory. That same year, a WRX STI race car won its class at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Different courses, same relentless STI spirit. 🔥

Now Precision R is building this 2012 STI hatchback for time attack, and we’re helping prepare it by removing interior sound deadening with dry ice blasting. It’s one of the details that helps turn a street car into a focused track project.

Huge thanks to Precision R for bringing Sub Zero Restoration into this build. We can’t wait to see where this STI goes next! ❄️

🔥 WHERE CARS, COMMUNITY & CULTURE COME TOGETHER. 🔥

Last month, G.O.T.A. — Garages of the Americas — brought the car community together for Supercars at Sunset, featuring an incredible mix of exotic cars, enthusiasts, and automotive culture.

Located just minutes from COTA, G.O.T.A. is more than a place to park your collection. It’s a destination built around the lifestyle, the passion, and the people behind the cars. 🏁🏎️

From supercars to custom builds, events like this prove that the Texas car scene is continuing to grow — and the collaborations are only getting bigger.

This is the kind of community we love to see. Different builds. Different backgrounds. One shared passion for cars and culture.

Who else wants to see more events like this across Texas? 👀👇
