Postcards from the Isles of Scilly, my very favourite place in the world.

Magical sunsets, the best crab & octopus, crystal clear water, beaches that look like they should be in the Caribbean and endless sea dips.

There is something about this tiny archipelago off the coast of Cornwall that is incredibly special and I will never tire of its slow and peaceful ways. I first came when I was 7 years old and it still holds the same wonder for me as it did then.

As part of the May Brighton Festival I have been given the amazing opportunity to showcase my textile collection ‘The Feminine Grotesque’ with pre-loved garments.

My display will be up for the next week, come and have a closer look as the textiles are even more beautiful in person!!

Visiting Fiveways for the @artistsopenhouses trail? Look no further: I’ve created the ultimate imperfect guide for you.

Did you know Fiveways hosted the original artists open houses? Come along and steep yourself in the history of the whole festival.

Getting here: Fiveways is well connected to central Brighton. Hop on bus 26, 46 or 50 or get the 3-minute train from Brighton main station to London Road station (be sure to pop in to see the exhibition at @floroadmarket if you come by train). If you’re coming from further afield, there’s on street parking available.

What to visit: The Fiveways Trail has a whopping 23 venues open so there’s plenty of choice. Pick up the @fivewaysartistsgroup trail guide from any participating venue or a local shop. For some of the newer venues, start at the Fiveways junction and turn down Hollingbury Road and then Hollingbury Crescent to find @art_house_by_the_postbox and @jason.munro_ on Hollingdean Terrace, and my house, Art at no. 70, on Dudley Road. Plus this weekend only, @sophieabbottartist is opening at the other end of Hollingdean Terrace.

While you’re in the area, check out @hollingdeanwholefoods, a treasure trove of vegan treats. It’s hosted by the wonderful @gallery19a who are also showing an exhibition of work by @julesannis_

Back up at the Fiveways junction, take your time to browse the wonderful selection of independent shops: beautifully curated second hand clothes @prelovedofbrighton, all things flowers at @scentiment and - if you’ve been inspired by all the art - stock up on supplies at @fivewaysartsandcraftsshop.

Back on the trail, you’ll find houses in both directions on Ditchling Road and to the West on Preston Drove (stop by the gorgeous Blakers Park for a glimpse of a sea view). A stone’s through from Blakers you’ll find @starlingstudio_brighton. Slightly further afield on the trail, don’t miss @hygge_aoh.

And after all that, if you need to relax at the end of a hard day’s art viewing, pick up a bottle of wine from @quaffwine on Ditchling Road or stop by @kalina.woods.ceramics for her work and pop up margarita bar!

A little update 💛

After 2 years of VILLAGE BN3
You may have spotted the For Lease sign outside… but we’re still here and Village BN3 is staying put for the foreseeable ✨

It’s very much business as usual and spring has officially landed in store 🌷

Mother’s Day (15th March), Easter treats, gorgeous new gifts, sunnies, beach towels, Brighton water shoes and lots of fresh new stock arriving daily.

If you love having a neighbourhood store, now’s the time to shop small 💛.
