If you want to build anything that is public facing, whether in the digital media space or offline, my biggest advise to you is to be yourself. Your most authentic self!

If you’re truly called, you will be called to a specific audience, and they will be attracted to you too; your tribe will be attracted to your kind.

So please do not make the mistake of trying to change yourself into what is popular to gain a bigger audience. Bigger isn’t always better if you have to constantly perform to gain their approval.

Being and resting in who you truly are = building your most true and authentic audience = sustaining your relationship with them much easier and over time.

First of all, thank you @thesandcocollective for trusting me with your Christmas Gala Launch event 🥹🥳🎤💛 It was a pleasure to be your host and I’m so blessed to have worked with you.

I’ll tell you why this moment was deep for me.
I’m not new to hosting but this recent wave is a resurgence.

In true MoChunks fashion, it’s storytime 😝👇🏾✨

I got my first hosting gig back in 2016, I believe. I was shakey the whole night, ya girl was so nervous and stumbled over her words several times. I hosted a few more events like that, the nerves were overwhelming. Although people always said they could not tell, I didn’t feel too confident to carry on. I’ll stick to my online shows, I thought. And for bookings, stick with speaking engagements. I stayed in my comfort zone for many years.

Then one day in 2024, @sistemuk reached out to me. No advert. No - “this is a service I offer”. They found me, and thought “Mo can host this”. When I received their email with a request to host their brunch, I thought, maybe I can try again. 🫡

Same story with @youngladiesclub 💕

SiSTEM loved my vibe and invited me back the next year. And just like that the enquiries started coming through from this summer. Some casual, some more official. No advert, no - “this is a service I offer”, just someone telling someone “Mo can host this”.

Then it became clear to me. It’s a resurgence. I started saying to myself, I think I can host these 😭 hence starting my @orationbymo page. Book me 🤗🤗🤗

Life is so interesting. It will always push you to where you’re meant to be or what you’re supposed to do next. Even when you’re hiding. Even when you’re in a season of obscurity. Even with no advert. 1 Samuel 16:11-12.

To that girl in her early 20s. Shy, shakey, nervous. We’re grown now! We no longer shake when we hold the mic. We’re confident in front of a crowd now. Whenever we get scared, Exodus 31:3 is our anchor 💛

Incredibly grateful. More than a booking, a deep affirmation of my calling 💛
