“Still I rise”
You may write me down as a mere Black statistic, I was homeless and lost. My mom died when I was 21 and I lost everything. But still I rise. With the butter twisted experiences I’ve endured. You may Trod my struggle in the very dirt that was supposed to be my demise but imma strong black woman and Still I rise. What is a Miracle? A miracle is a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.
" My journey has been best described as a miracle. I was 18 when I had a full ride scholarship to attend Cal State Northridge. That same summer my mother told me she was dying. My mom had stage four colon and lung cancer. I gave up hope and didn’t go to college. At 19 I went to Compton college with a good friend and was offered a job and ended up going to school full time had a 3.6 GPA.I Worked on campus and Grinded. At 20 me and my mom lost our apartment and was forced to sleep in Motel rooms. My mom passed when I was 21. I seen her life slowly drift from her body. I saw her lose weight, her hair and her will to live.I ended up having one last conversation with her, when she was in hospice on her death bed. Her words were finish school.I lost everything ended up moving from place to place. I ended up in a shelter. I dropped out to school. I was young lost and alone. I endured a lot of pain . In the midst of everything I ended up working at a Bank, I was a fast and efficient teller. I remember my aunt called me and said are you really doing what you are meant to do? I went back to Compton college and I got my AA the spring of 2017.I transferred to Cal State Los Angeles. I finally graduate this semester with my BA in Sociology and Minor in Pan African studies.I am not done either. Grad school next. 🎉🎉. If God is within her she will not fail #Psalms 46:5.
