“This is home,” by Greg Ortiz, one of IVRPD Board of Directors.

Many people may resonate with this quote, whether you’re indigenous, a long-term resident, a college student, an established local business, or a traveling small business owner in search of community, belonging, and support. What we call home today is also acknowledging that we are on Native Chumash Land. All of us contribute to Isla Vista in some shape or form, and it’s important to protect it with our heart.

Anisq’oyo is the Chumash Indigenous Name, consisting of both Isla Vista and UCSB. Now we honor that legacy by taking care of green spaces like Anisq’oyo Park.

Together with @ucsbhousing Isla Vista Recreations and Park District @islavistacsd and many community partners alike, the Welcome Back Concert invites upcoming students to be part of Isla Vista community and teach them how to find their sense of home too.

Isla Vista is to be loved and respected by those who shop local, shop small, and give back to the community through unconditional love, openness, and protection.

Isla Vista Small Artists Co-op’s Market will be on the cottage side of Anisq’oyo Park. We will see you then.

Summer ‘26 Edit 1/2

Excerpt from a little edit I made to commemorate my recent acquisition of a tandem bicycle. Got inspired by the posting of @tandem.enthusiast and got me a second bike off the marketplace. Looking forward to many good rides with the buddies going forward.

If y’all need a lift, y’all got my number 🤙
