I haven’t formally introduced myself on here. My name is Shah’Tavia and I’m a Makeup Artist in Chicago. I have 4 years of experience in the beauty industry. I balance myself between my 9-5 career, my passion career of beauty and makeup artistry, creative and also being a daughter, a sister, niece, aunt and friend.
I started makeup solely for purposes on making myself feel beautiful. I was diagnosed with Lupus (SLE) when I was 20 years old and I would suffer from rashes and other unpleasant things that would effect my skin. Instead of letting it keep me down, I decided I would do something that would make me feel good. So in 2013, I had my first trip to Ulta and never stopped going back lol.
I realized that I could help change how I felt with makeup brushes because it was a boost for my confidence. And no I’m not saying that I am any less beautiful without makeup but we all have insecurities and if makeup could help with it, it was great for me because it became therapeutic. It forced me to sit with myself, it immersed me into a community I never knew existed with other individuals i grow with, learn from and build relationships with.
I soon learned to love myself in whatever season I was in. I knew that if I could do that for myself, I could for others as well. So with that coupled with friends who pushed me, Beauty By S.A.Y. was born which is a play on my initials.

I aspire to give my clients and customers a beauty experience that leaves them feeling empowered, unstoppable and like anything is attainable because it is!
So I just wanna welcome you all to my page, both new and seasoned followers. I look forward to continuously engaging with you all! 🤎
