It's Mother's Day!

On this day we, Chic Events by Laurel, honor the memory and legacy of our creative Queen, the one who started it all, our mother, Laura Petrie-Lynch.

A well respected and proud Wife to our Father of 60+ years, Nurse, Teacher, Midwife, Artist, Cook, Wedding Cake Baker, Hostess, Seamstress, Daycare Owner, Crochet Slinger, Author, Singer, Musician, Tiler & Carpenter, Hygienist(let's not forget Lauderhill Christian Girls, teaching young ladies how to be clean and neat, yes she wrote the theme song and all)...but sitting atop that list - Designer & Florist!

Without her (and our father by her side every step of the way) Chic Events by Laurel just simply would not be.

Laura's attention to detail and undying love for beautiful gardens and unique florals ran deep within her veins. It started from a very young age in Manchester, Jamaica with her finding one of her MANY passions quickly. Outside of nursing and caring for others she was a bonafide Green Thumb who cared for plants and delicate flowers! (Orchids especially)

She had such an unwavering love for florals to the point she shed tears for her dying favorites. She would talk and sing sweet melodies to her lush garden of beauties, and find peace and joy in each bloom. Everywhere she took residence she established her Bountiful Gardens and unique layouts adding radiance to each space.
She could not help herself! There was rarely a flower she did not love!

Her unwavering passion garnered the interest of many such as city officials. Even winning Best Unique Garden Awards.

She would do weekly live floral arrangements
for churches. Some as intricate as musical notes, praying hands, bible imagery, starbursts and anything else her creative mind led her to.

She poured her design talents into teaching Floral Arrangement classes, doing Weddings, Receptions, Parties, Anniversaries, Funerals. Teaching Vacation Bible School Arts, and anything that was needed she was the go-to with our father right by her side for the journey, even with his taxing work life!

The Power Brunch with @toriwilliamsevents and @iambrandiharvey. Thank you, Tori, for taking the time to share your journey, and thank you, Brandi, for being an absolutely fabulous moderator extraordinaire!

CEBL POV: Great dreams were not built in a day but with determination, perseverance, some disappointments, and lots of prayer. If God inspired a dream/vision in you...write the vision and walk it out. God will order every step right to the place you should be!! I am grateful for this reminder.
