*Pretty TODIE to Detroit’s Female Rappers: “We Don’t Have to Wear Masculinity to Win”*

Detroit, MI — Pretty TODIE is speaking directly to her peers.

In a candid message to Detroit’s female rap scene, TODIE addressed a trend she’s been noticing: women rappers toting masculinity in their delivery, image, and presentation to compete. And while she respects the grind, she’s calling for a slight change.

TODIE said, and we're paraphrasing here. “Somewhere along the line, a lot of us female rappers started feeling like we had to rap like the dudes, dress like the dudes, move like the dudes just to be heard. That’s not the only way.”

She isn’t knocking the aggression or the bars — Detroit’s DNA is built on that. What she’s challenging is the idea that femininity has to be muted for women to be respected in the booth. TODIE believes the city’s next evolution depends on women bringing their full selves, not a filtered version designed to fit into a masculine mold.

We're paraphrasing again“I’m not saying switch it all up overnight. I’m saying let’s add range. Be hard when you need to be. Be soft when you want to be. Be sexy, be smart, be vulnerable, be bossed up. Be _you_. Detroit women are all of that.”

For TODIE, this slight change isn’t about image alone — it’s about legacy. As Detroit rap continues to go global, she wants the women coming up to know they don’t have to trade authenticity for acceptance. The city has space for every kind of female voice.

Pretty TODIE isn’t asking for permission. She’s asking for perspective. And if Detroit listens, the next wave of female rappers might be the most diverse the city’s ever seen.
