36 DAYS BEFORE HIS FINAL FIGHT, PRICHARD COLÓN WON FOR THE LAST TIME.

On September 11, 2015, Colón entered the ring in Toronto 15–0 with 12 KOs.

Across from him was Vivian Harris, a former world champion and the most experienced professional opponent Colón had faced to that point.

At 1:03 of Round 4, it was over.

Colón improved to 16–0 with 13 KOs.

Nine days later, he called it “the best KO of my career so far” and said he hoped to get back into training and fight again before the end of the year.

Thirty-six days after Toronto, he entered the ring against Terrel Williams.

It became the final professional fight of his career.

Prichard Colón would have turned 34 today.

Yesterday, Thomas Dulorme, the first professional fighter to beat Terrel Williams, publicly called for Prichard’s final fight to be changed to a No Contest.

World Boxing News says it has now returned to Virginia officials to ask whether anything can still be done.

For now, Prichard’s official record still reads 16–1.

But that one loss should not be the only thing people remember.

Before everything changed, Prichard had built an extensive amateur career, represented Puerto Rico, started his professional career with 10 straight stoppage wins, practiced future TV interviews in English and Spanish, and planned to eventually become a boxing promoter.

Today is his birthday.

And nearly eleven years later, the final line of his boxing record is being discussed again.

Keep the story moving.

@thomasdulorme has opened up to WBN about facing Terrel Williams after the devastating Prichard Colón fight.

“I wasn’t worried at all. I was never afraid of an illegal punch. I was never afraid of dying either.”🥊🇵🇷

Thomas Dulorme goes deeper on Prichard Colón's final fight. 🇵🇷

Terrel Williams' final opponent says both Williams and referee Joe Cooper carried responsibility — but places more on the referee. 🥊

Prichard Colón’s name is still part of boxing’s fight to prevent the same thing from happening again.

After his final fight on October 17, 2015, the WBC launched a campaign against intentional blows to the back of the head and named it The Prichard Colón Rule.

The rule begins before the opening bell. Referees are expected to emphasize that punches to the back of the head are prohibited, with escalating consequences when fighters deliberately ignore the warning.

Then on August 25, 2026, WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán called for a “new global activation” of the rule, including continued referee training, rigorous evaluation and zero tolerance for intentional rabbit punches.

That does not mean every commission or sanctioning body in boxing automatically follows one universal standard.

But eleven years after Prichard’s final fight, boxing is still being asked to learn from what happened to him.

His legacy is no longer only about remembering the past.

It is also about protecting the next fighter.
