I personally have found it only takes a single person to believe enough to help you believe in yourself which brings me to this moment, when I’m trying to glow on this slippery path, but because of all of you I’m steady & pulsing fast.

Words cannot describe the many thanks we owe this man 🙏🙏🙏 For those of you who are unfamiliar with him, he is Jim Obergefell, the gay rights advocate at the center of the 2015 landmark Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage in the United States 💍👭👬 We are beyond honored to have him as the VIP Guest Speaker at EQUALITY WINE FEST, July 1st, 2023.

Can you believe that over 8 years ago, it was Unconstitutional for same-sex couples to legally marry. For Jim, this meant that due to Ohio's same-sex marriage ban, Obergefell could not be listed as Arthur's surviving spouse on his death certificate. Arthur was Jim’s long time partner and was sadly terminally ill. But Jim fought and secured Marriage Equality for us all proving that indeed #lovewins!!!

While it feels as though we have progressed tremendously since then, today there are hundreds of anti-LGBTQ+ bills being introduced in state legislatures across the U.S. proving the fight for equality is not over, which is why it’s so important to create events and spaces for the #LGBTQ+ community and it’s allies.

After @Fidm I became a stylist & a personal shopper. I worked for @vanessawilliamsofficial, dressed @kellyrowland, @kevinspacey, #ConanOBrien, @kylerichards18 (etc etc), worked on several movie sets but this is the first time I went dress shopping for me. I was shocked how many women wanted to pick out fits and dress me like slutty #Barbie. I would tell them it was for the @drag4.drag protest tonight and they smiled at me like “sure it is”. I had a Russian & Canadian woman help me but most shocking was a little Mexican grandmother who didn’t speak English and wore a big cross. She motioned for me to turn around and some how reshaped my rib cage to make the dress work. ❤️🇲🇽🇲🇽. When the Canadian woman zipped me up so gently and told me I looked pretty, it was a surreal moment. I told her I grew up in a children’s home and that her zipping up my dress felt like all the love and kisses my mom would have given me if she could. 😞❤️🥰

Now I understand the phrase retail therapy. 🤑
