🧳 Three people. One locked case. Sixty minutes to decide whether greed is worth dying for.

Inside sits either a fortune or a live explosive, and no way to know without opening it. Trapped inside four walls as the clock runs down, the case doesn’t just test their nerve, it detonates whatever trust was left in the room.

The Labia Theatre premiere this Sunday is officially sold out.

Digital release and festival screening announcements to follow. Join the priority waitlist via the link in bio.

Visual references for the lighting ratio and tone of Baggage Claim.

We kept the sources minimal—mostly practicals and a single key—leaning heavily into high-contrast shadows to trap the actors inside the room with the case.

📝 When I started looking for a script to shoot on a micro-budget, I looked for scripts that
were contained. One apartment. Three actors. Most screenwriters build massive,
expansive worlds that demand locations and resources we simply didn’t have.
So I changed direction and started looking at stage plays 🎭
Playwrights are masters of containment because they have to hold an audience inside a
single room using performance friction, with zero visual tricks to bail them out.
I found Simon Parker’s script ‘BAGGAGE CLAM’ and it really connected from the first
read. It had tension, and it carried me through. His script had the exact dramatic elements
we needed, three actors, one location, and a single MacGuffin that sustained the tension
throughout the story.
Simon was completely on board to collaborate on adapting it for the screen, and for me to
make it into a movie. We didn’t need to rewrite his dialogue too much or break his
structure. We re-engineered the physical texture of the world, dropping the story into a
dark, dystopian neo-noir setting and swapping the stage play’s duffel bag for a cold, hard
metal case with biometric locks. 💼 🎬
Working with Simon to bridge that gap from his page to our lens was where this whole
thing actually came together.
Chapter 4: Script to Screenplay is live.
Hit the link in bio on @baggage_claim_film to get on the list for upcoming screening
updates, and go check out our writer, Simon Parker.

Our beautiful film, THE SMELL OF APPLES, will have its world premiere at TIFF in the Platform competition!

Thank you to all of the journalists and trades for these wonderful features.

This was a transformative experience for me and I’m so grateful to everyone who worked so tirelessly to bring this dream to life. We had the most incredible cast and crew on this film and all of your work shines on screen. Congratulations 🫶🏻

To my fellow producers, thank you. I appreciate you so much.

I had so much support from my chosen family throughout this, I see you all and love you very much.

Thank you to TIFF and especially to @clairediao who championed our film from so early on. I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone soon 🇨🇦

John, as always, it was glorious to create together again. Love you ❤️ #thesmellofapples #tiff
