Blake has walked through the darkness of them all. At just 4 years old, Blake lost his mother to breast cancer. At 5, he lost his 12-year-old brother under circumstances that remain unanswered. At 12, he lost both his aunt and great-grandmother within two months of one another. At the beginning of eighth grade, Blake fractured his kneecap, requiring surgery and two titanium screws. At the beginning of his sophomore year, he broke his wrist, requiring another surgery, a titanium plate, and seven screws. Entering his junior year, Blake moved and transferred schools, leaving behind the familiar to embrace an entirely new beginning. Then, just five weeks ago, another devastating setback. Blake broke both bones in his forearm, requiring yet another surgery, two titanium plates, and 12 screws. Three major orthopedic injuries. Three surgeries. Three titanium plates. Nineteen screws. And a lifetime of adversity before his 17th birthday. Yet through it all, Blake has refused to surrender. Through extraordinary dedication, relentless hard work, discipline, and a MAMBA MENTALITY, Blake has repeatedly fought his way back to the sports he loves, returning from previous injuries in time to compete alongside his football and basketball teammates. And now, with just four weeks remaining before the beginning of his junior basketball season, Blake has his sights set on another comeback. His mission? To return to the court alongside his new brothers at Bolingbrook High School and help pursue a CONFERENCE AND STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 🏆 I’ve watched this young man endure more pain, heartbreak, and adversity than many people experience in a lifetime. And I’ve watched him get back up. Again. And again. And AGAIN. I’ve never witnessed anyone overcome so much in such a short period of time.
