Is coming to a year since I’ve moved back to Devon. What brought me here? The moors, the river dart, Schumacher College and a vibrant community. I’ve been a nomad most of my life, seeking the pattern that connects paraphrasing Bateson. And yet many patterns are revealed when your journey is otherwise and this year has been that. A nesting of sorts. A constant arriving, slowing down, simplifying life. It’s been a few weeks since my family landed in town to visit us. And yes it’s obviously practice and at the same time the most beautiful gift. I miss them. Miss their hands, their cooking, their silliness and jokes. I really miss having my family near by. So I’m grateful to have a dose of them, and share with them my life here in these ancient isles. In times of the great turning, there’s nothing like community to hold us through and through. Hold us amidst some of the most horrifying genocides in recent history. Hold us when we are feeling the winter blues and life is hard. Nourish us when we need a little help.
