Last week at just about this time I was rushing over to @wehoedition to put the final touches on our Friends4Friends launch dinner. I didn’t need to rush - the team at @ardorweho had it all covered thanks to our good friend @andrea_franchini

So…a few weeks before that, while standing at our @agoprojects booth @fogfair I had a conversation with @mrstaschen about how unmoored, disconnected and thoroughly unhelpful I felt in regards to the FIRES and the many artists I knew, or knew of, who had lost homes or studios, or both, in the fires. I didn’t know what to do. Lauren said immediately- make plates! You know artists and you know @josenoesuro - make plates and sell them to raise money for the various organizations that are helping people on the ground. Just Do It. I thought this was a simple and excellent idea and the next morning called her to ask if she wanted to do it together.

So here we are. Our first event raised $30,000 for the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund in large part thanks to the quick work of @stellenevolandes and @sean_santiago at @elledecor and @visitweho THANK YOU for jumping on this - it feels like a fantastic start.

The incomparable @jorgepardosculpture sent us what has amounted to 30 different plate designs that can be mixed and matched to your fancy. There were many oohs and aahs and orders placed at the event, and now we are opening it up to everyone. Each gorgeous plate is hand painted in Guadalajara at @ceramicasuro and can be ordered now - dm me for more info and follow us please at our @friends4friends_lovela insta for the next artists and designer announcements, and “drops.” We are currently working on a gorgeous design by @paewhitestudio Current orders will benefit Grief and Hope

Happy Heavenly B-Day, Nick.
I miss your physical presence,
I am so glad I have these 8-mm video clips to watch occasionally. I fondly remember hanging out in the projection booth at the Laemmle Sunset 5 Theater, the Aero Theater, and the Egyptian. It felt so special to watch the unique process of a maestro projectionist at work. You were considered one of the best. I remember you telling me that you were requested by great film directors, like William Friedkin, and others asked that you only project their movies. It was neat to see and nerd out on the original 35mm film canisters on Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 Space Odyssey, Friedkin’s “The French Connection, “ Scorsese’s “Taxi Driver,” and many more. Lots have changed; we're in a hybrid world now, a shift from film to digital; some directors, like Tarantino, Nolan, PTA, and others, are film purists.

Myself and other dear friends miss your brilliant mind, exceptional wisdom and knowledge on any subject, and unique sense of humor.
Perhaps you're hosting a celestial bash, drinking your favorite whiskey, swapping stories, playing chess and poker games until the wee hours, or just reading some epic fiction or something off the beaten path… miss you, my friend, ❤️

So The Family is gathering to say HELLO and CIAO to the blue-eyed-baby-boy-of-joy and Scorpionic bionic abilities with more instruments than Lenny Kravitz at 27 wishing he would die and meeting the devil at the cross roads and choosing open necked tops and homes in Brazil instead.

PLS fam, send good vibes to our family in this time of loss of self and society and reconstructing something in the image of a christ commune. I haven't directed in years and I am a little excited. Not great.
