You asked, we heard: After significant time in development, Hamtramck is finally getting its own National Fitness Campaign fitness court. And we’re having an event to celebrate its opening!

Join us in an official ribbon cutting, remarks from project partners- including Priority Health and Wayne County, meet the artist responsible for the digital mural, witness a heated fitness challenge between two Hamtramck High School coaches, and participate in a free workout by a local instructor. Attendees not participating in the free workout and welcome to mingle, explore the fitness stations, and learn more about The Fitness Court phone app- which is free and great for planning individualized, self-led circuits.

Plan on the first ~30-minutes for speeches, announcement of the local artist, and short fitness challenge. The remainder of the time will be for the free, group workout on the “Studio” side of the fitness court OR mingling and exploration.

This project is sponsored by the Hamtramck Parks Conservancy in collaboration with the National Fitness Campaign, Priority Health, and Wayne County, Michigan.

Man what a finale it was! It’s Thursday and I’m sitting here with nothing to do tonight. I’m going to miss all of you until next year. Don’t fret there is a next year. I’m already working on 2027! Harvest Fest 2026 — It’s a Wrap! 🍂🎃
Detroit Riverfront Conservancy x Nerd Swag Visuals

This weekend, I had the opportunity to team up with the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy to help tell the story of Harvest Fest 2026 through my lens. My official job was to be the “People Guy”… I kinda like that one (Thanks Mary 😊).

The food. The art. The smiles. The music. The love. The city was alive.

But what stood out to me most wasn’t just what was happening—it was who was there.

Families. Friends. Kids picking out pumpkins. People dancing like nobody was watching. Artists sharing their gifts. Couples creating memories. Strangers laughing together. People from different neighborhoods, backgrounds, and generations all sharing the same space.

That’s what the Riverfront is supposed to be.

As summer ends and fall officially begins, the temperature may get cooler. The stages may come down. The music may fade. The food trucks may pull away. But the mission of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy doesn’t change.

The goal is still to create a Riverfront that belongs to everybody.

And that’s why events like Harvest Fest matter. They’re bigger than a weekend event. They’re about creating spaces where Detroiters don’t just come to visit—they come to belong.

And now, you have an opportunity to help shape what comes next.

Some community announcements 📢📢

HOXIE TENNIS COURTS- Courts can be reserved for free online at https://hamtramckparks.com/facility-rental/ or by phone via text/call at (313) 355-0310. Note that the website and fee schedule do not yet reflect the waived court rental fee. Courts are locked outside of reservations, @ustasoutheasternmichigan lessons, and @hhscosmos_tennis use, due to misuse and vandalism.

FITNESS COURT- Attention, anyone who is looking to try a new environment for a good workout! A National Fitness Campaign fitness court is coming to our community, and will be free to use for anyone 14 and older. The fitness court is a two-section, outdoor workout amenity. One half is designed with seven stations or structures that can be used to support a variety of exercises and strength training, and the other half is a flat surface ideal for group aerobics or stretching.

The fitness court is located in the back corner of Playfair Park, next to Keyworth Stadium, and will be formally unveiled on October 21. The artist responsible for the very special Hamtramck-centric digital mural on the long wall of the fitness court will be announced at this time. Construction is slated for completion in the next week.

Heard there was fall fun at the Detroit Harvest Festival, so of course I volunteered with @priorityhealth and @caninesforchange ! 🐾🍂💚 Made new friends, spread some smiles, and maybe found a few treats along the way! 🎃🐶

I’ll be doing a dedicated post this week to wrap up the amazing season we had on @slowrolldetroitthursdaynights There’s so many people to thank I have to make sure I do it right. I will say Thank You to all of you! To everyone that came out and supported our cause. We are all contributing to something bigger than a ride. It’s a movement. Thank You to Rosalyn Slade and @priorityhealth Without them believing in me the ride wouldn’t have happened. Roll Patrol is the backbone of Slow Roll. See I’m getting into it.
