Summer ‘26 was a busy one. Even though it was full of long nights working until 3am, and dealing with thousands of people a day, the memories we gave the peeps of Edmonton who came out to check out a movie are what kept us going! More personally, I got my foot in the door with IMAX by helping our wonderful projectionists set up our 70mm print of “The Odyssey”. This film means so much to me, our staff, and the building we continue to show it in! (Extended until September 30th come check it out!). I’m so proud to be apart of the team that continues to display this wonderful piece of art to our city! Crazy how it’s still selling out shows almost two months into the run! On top of working “The Odyssey”, this summer had “Obsession”, “Backrooms”, and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, which also brought in multiple sold out crowds that proved the fact that movie theatres are… NOT DYING! . I’m proud to be working in the movie theatre industry, especially in a time that see’s it booming and formats like IMAX are increasing in popularity. I wanna end the post with a couple photos from a trip I went on with a great group of friends that was towards the beginning of the summer. Checking out the hoodoo’s, suspension bridges, mine shafts, Dino bones, and partaking in the quiet campfires at night in the badlands of Alberta was a really great change of scenery and it’s a trip that won’t be forgotten! Thanks to everyone for an awesome summer!! Let’s see what fall / winter holds! 🎬

2025…. I would be lying if I said this year was entirely good. There were some things lost and lessons learned… but it showed me two things. The first thing is that I’m strong and can get through pain. The second being that I have an amazing friend group. One who has been there for me through the light and the darkness of this year. For that, I am so thankful. Onto the next one ✨

So we’ve got some catching up to do! I can’t possibly fit every moment that made my life different in one post, but if I could, I don’t know what to say besides I guess it would be a long post. Thank you to everyone who’s loved me this year, and thank you to everybody I have loved. You’re all such phenomenal people. I 💜 my friends May next year be kinder, and if it isn’t, may we be even kinder instead

Meet our President! Prishita Harikant (She/Her) is an emerging artist pursuing her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Alberta. She is ecstatic to rejoin ABBEDAM this year as the President! Her theatre journey began 9 years ago as an actor in Wizard of Oz. Throughout the following years, she has had wonderful opportunities working mostly as an actor, director, and (occasionally) a theatre educator. She is incredibly passionate about sharing the beauty of the theatre arts with the world and can’t wait to continuously learn and grow as a part of this vibrant community. P.S She feels very lucky to have such a wonderful and talented group of individuals alongside her on the ABBEDAM board and can’t wait to share the fruits of their creativity and hard work in the upcoming season!
