Happy Spooky Season

This Halloween, wouldn’t it be amazing to go as a ✨published author✨

There are a bunch of BC lit mags with open submissions hoping to publish YOUR work! The scariest thing you could do this October is not submit 🫣 This text of this image says "5 BC Lit Mags You Can Submit To Today" and is decorated by illustrated arrows and squiggles. The background is a yellow sticky note on a black background.

This is a snippet of my poem, God's County, that was a second runner-up for the 2025 Grouse Grind Lit Prize. The whole thing is now up for you to read on PRISM International's website. Make sure you check it out and the other work the folks at PRISM publish!

‘Sebastian calls from the aisle. Wait! What if someone walks in? The other side of the screen is holy, after all. No one is allowed back there. It’s where the miracle happens...‘

I will be reading from my story, ‘An Iconostasis‘ this Thursday in Syros.

A literary distraction from drafting my thesis is okay, right!? The spring issue of @prisminternational is dopamine between covers. I can’t even pretend to resist, lol.

One of my favourite lines ⬇️

“… I stretched to see the mirror behind me, to see how my body made sense of the dress.” Red Dress by Claire Wai Yeen Lloyd

I’m a slow meticulous reader. Might be sitting with this one for a bit.

I’d love to know which piece stood out for you 🤓

I’m a bit late adding this to the grid but late seems to be the way of things these days as I meet the growing list of demands of a baby who would like nothing more than to be hurdling forward on his own two legs but can’t bc he just turned 8 months old?? while also trying to be a working artist?! Kinda chic! But kinda hard!! This might seem like a scandalous sexy story but it’s actually about never having realistic roadmaps for what healthy relationships look like and it’s about infertility and all the strange bodily anxieties that arrive while trying and failing to conceive a child. It’s strange to be a thirty-something woman trying to get your body to do the thing you were terrified it would do when you were young and you thought getting pregnant would be the easiest thing in the world. I loved writing this slightly insane story so much that it’s now a 65K novel in progress. Thank you @prisminternational for giving it this filthy home 🖤
