Yesterday we took our travel club to the dockyard for Navy Day and it was absolutely rammed! Literally thousands of people! The bus getting down was packed out too! What I found amusing was once you were through the gates people started queuing again to see the lions! 🦁 What is it about queuing ?

Why did we choose to travel from Paulsgrove to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on the busiest day of the year, with our wheelchairs, mobility scooters, noise sensitivities, people sensitivities? Because our SEND families are pretty awesome that’s why.

Over the past couple of years we’ve been co-designing and co-producing travel games and activities and we’ve been practicing going on short journeys. Next we’re looking to team up with Portsmouth secondary schools to provide resources and guidance to their young people.

For years, I knew I wanted to give something back.

The challenge wasn't the desire.

It was finding the right outlet.

When I saw the work being done by Politely Rebellious Next Gen CIC, something clicked. I met young people with huge potential who couldn't yet see the opportunities available to them because they were surrounded by examples of paths that weren't serving them well.

That felt familiar.

One thing I've learned over the years is that lived experience matters.

Business knowledge can be taught. Leadership skills can be developed.

But when you've walked a similar road yourself, you bring a level of understanding that can't be learned from a textbook.

That's what drew me to Politely Rebellious. I can contribute business experience, but perhaps more importantly, I can help young people see possibilities they may not currently see for themselves.

Sometimes changing a life starts by showing someone a different path. What experiences from your own journey are you now able to pass on to others?

I will always be forever grateful to Keshia Rachel Stewart and Leah Wallace for welcoming me into their cause. The past 15 months have been special working with these two incredibly driven and talented women.

It’s been a few weeks since our charity Clay shoot in aid of Politely Rebellious Next Gen CIC.

With so much going on across the business, it’s tricky to find the time to shout about all the wonderful community engagement we get to deliver. But we couldn’t not share the impact this event had ……

So we’ve been doing our sums 💰 and we are thrilled to announce that we raised a whopping £3,300 🤩

This money will directly impact the young people in our community and allow both Keshia Rachel Stewart, Leah Wallace and Simon Ingram to continue to deliver their important work across our city.

A huge thank you to our headline sponsor Luke Holly at LJH Electrical Southern ltd for their sponsorship of the event 👏 and to each and every business who attended or supported us on another fantastic day of shooting over on the island.

We’re so excited to see Next Gen Movement featured in the Portsmouth News! 🖤

From an empty space at The Harbour School to a dedicated space where young people can move, connect, talk and grow, it’s been amazing to see the journey come to life.

The space brings together physical activity, mentoring & wellbeing, all creating an environment where young people can build confidence, release energy and have those natural conversations with trusted role models.

A huge thank you to the Portsmouth News for coming down and capturing what we’re building and speaking to everyone who has played a part in making the space happen.

There’s a video and full article over on the Portsmouth News, so if you have a few minutes, have a read and watch the video to see a little more of what Next Gen Movement is all about⬇️

Always grateful for the time we get to catch up as Directors 🤝

Between Keshia, Leah and Simon, there’s always something going on, so it’s nice to take a moment to sit down, catch up and hear about all the amazing things happening both inside and outside the powerhouse that is Politely Rebellious Next Gen CIC!

From new projects and opportunities to the people, partnerships and ideas that keep everything moving forward, there’s never a quiet moment. We’re incredibly lucky to have a team that brings different experiences, perspectives and strengths to the table, all with the same goal of creating more opportunities for the next generation.

Lots more to come 🖤

From an empty space to somewhere young people can move, connect, talk and grow👟

We wanted to share a little more of the journey behind our first Next Gen Movement space at The Harbour School, and what better way to do that than through some photos from our unveiling and of the finished space!

What started as an idea to create somewhere positive for young people has now become a real space where physical activity, mentoring, mental health and wellbeing can come together.

From boxing and fitness to mindfulness, education and those natural conversations that can sometimes make the biggest difference, the aim is simple: create somewhere young people feel safe, supported and able to be themselves 🥊

A huge thank you again to the incredible team at The Harbour School, our Director Simon and his superstar team at Mountjoy, and the Hampshire Flag Company for the time, effort and creativity that went into transforming the space and bringing our vision to life.

And of course, a massive thank you to our amazing role models Lucas Ballingall, Linvoy Primus MBE and Joe Stewart, who will be holding regular sessions in the space, alongside Mikey McKinson and Joel Kirby. Every person involved has brought something different to this project, and that’s what makes it so special.

We’re incredibly proud to see the space come to life, but the real journey starts now!

We can’t wait to see the conversations and confidence that grows from this, and most importantly, the impact it has on the young people who use it🖤

Carrying the Baton of Hope
Tomorrow, as the SALT (Suicide Awareness Let’s Talk) Festival kicks off, Portsmouth comes together around a single, vital word: HOPE — Hearing Other People’s Experiences

At the very heart of this movement is our dear friend Lara Kynvin.
Lara was our original “Leader of the Baton of Hope.” She poured her heart into giving hope to hundreds of people struggling with their mental health, reminding our community that no one has to suffer in silence. Though we miss her deeply, Lara’s legacy lives on in every conversation started and every life touched across Portsmouth.

Her spirit shines brightly through HOPE the Lioness, part of The Pride of Portsmouth trail. Co-created by Seekers Create, sponsored by Mountjoy, and shaped by over 40 local residents and community partners (including Spark Community Space, Motiv8, The Parenting Network, Pompey in the Community, and Politely Rebellious Next Gen CIC), HOPE is a canvas of real lived experiences, stories, and strength.

Because when a community comes together, hope is never lost. 💙
