Anyone else seeing monster mullein around the valley?? 👀

According to old mountain folklore, TALL MULLEIN = DEEP SNOW. And these are pushing 6.5 feet!

I’m taking this as Mother Nature’s official notice. 🎿❄️

BRING. ON. THE. SNOW. ❄️❄️❄️

You’ll need your shades for these 😎 Highlights from our most recent bluebird Moto Level 1 Avalanche course with @pro.alpine!

Course participant, Jeb, shared with us: “[We] averaged 25-40 miles each day and spent the majority of the time in the mountains making real-time decisions and analyzing snow and terrain. Marc emphasizes a systematic, repeatable approach to decision-making.” Thanks to Marc and all of our Moto Level 1 participants!

If you missed this one, we’re hosting another course February 21-23. Head over to our website to sign up!

When it comes to mountain rescue techniques, our early season guide training is an excellent opportunity to experiment and innovate. This custom SKED is strapped to the top of a Skidoo LinQ Sleigh, pulled by an 850 Expedition Extreme, all tended by some of the most badass ski guides on the planet. If you’re ever in a bind in the backcountry around here, this is the team of first responders you want to see show up. And if you’re interested in learning more about how you might initiate that response, we’ll be offering an emergency communications briefing for the public on January 7th @sturtevants_sv

@sawtoothguides summer guide training wrap. Camp, climb, repeat. Thanks to @mtnscriv keeping me attached to the wall to fulfill my unofficial dream of shooting photos hanging from a cliff edge getting action shots of the guide team. Everyone had a healthy dose of slabs, big meals, and sun. The Sawtooths always deliver and I’m grateful for every second with the SMG guide team. If you’re looking for fun this summer camping, hiking or climbing, check out @sawtoothguides page - there’s something for everyone.

The annual summer guide training kicked off this week bringing our team together for several days of camping, climbing, and soaking up the wonders of the Sawtooths. We based out of the Canyon Camp, cooked delicious meals from scratch, refreshed risk management and spent several days climbing the Super Slabs just around the corner from camp. Get out in the mountains with us this summer to hike, climb or camp!

Whether you’re a first-timer on the Super Slabs or climbing an advanced route on the famed Elephant’s Perch, SMG can help you experience the Sawtooth’s renowned granite faces and spires.

Sawtooth rock climbing trips range from Introductory Programs at Redfish Lake to multi-day expeditions to remote Warbonnet Peak. Some of the best alpine granite in the country can be found on the Elephant’s Perch and Finger of Fate, which are just a short hike into the Sawtooth Wilderness.

Book a rock climb with SMG with the link in bio.
