What happens when familiar household objects become part of a live music experience?

With Heritage Soundsystem, Laurin Stecher @stechermaterial transforms a kitchen cabinet, wall clock, crucifix and sewing box into fully functional sound systems. Each retains its traditional appearance while hiding integrated speakers and subwoofers.

During his time at Balenciaga, Stecher realized he wanted to explore beyond fashion and develop his own concepts. That desire led him from wearable sculpture to furniture, bringing together traditional craftsmanship and electronic music.

At Voo Store in Berlin, the collection became the centrepiece of live sessions curated by @emotionpowerhouse, putting these domestic objects in an unexpected setting.

The four pieces, titled The Cross, The Clock, The Cabinet and The Sewing Box, work as one set, with individual prices ranging from $9,000 to $36,500.

The belief that MSG is extremely unhealthy grew through decades of sensational headlines, misleading health claims, and racial stereotypes that turned a common seasoning into something people feared. A major turning point came in 1968, when physician Robert Ho Man Kwok wrote a letter to the New England Journal of Medicine describing symptoms he experienced after eating at Chinese restaurants and suggesting several possible explanations, including cooking wine, sodium, and monosodium glutamate. The letter raised a question; it did not establish that MSG caused his symptoms. Nevertheless, the label “Chinese restaurant syndrome” helped transform speculation into what sounded like a recognized medical diagnosis, and media coverage spread the association between Chinese food and illness. Existing prejudice against Chinese cooking made that story easier to sell, despite MSG’s use beyond Chinese restaurants. Funny meme
