Appreciation post @proartibus @kulturfonden @aboakademi

I started at the Vasa Academill residency last August, working towards a new direction within both artistic practice and art pedagogy in Ostrobothnia. Feeling grateful and inspired for this opportunity and looking forward to the upcoming years in the west of Finland. A selection of recent paintings can be found at the campus until January 4th. Vasa 💛

Tack @kulturfonden för ert stöd och @proartibus för ert fina residensprogram.

Reed Still – Comedy
11.09. – 15.11.2026

Reed Still’s exhibition “Comedy” explores the precarious systems of renting, sharing, and survival that shape contemporary life. Three works examine how access to space is increasingly temporary and governed by economic logic. “The Sublet” presents a fixed-term housing contract, reflecting Berlin’s housing crisis and the instability of artistic labour. “The Barrel” evokes both minimalist sculpture and a burn barrel, linking temporary community and warmth to homelessness and exclusion. “The Grave” extends the logic of leasing into death, presenting a 20-year cemetery contract as a final temporary agreement. Together, the works expose the absurdity of a world in which even basic necessities—and ultimately death—are financialized and bureaucratically managed.

Reed Still's residency and exhibition are funded by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland.

Swipe through for an insider’s look at Finnish Design! 🪑

This June, our Finnish design visitation programme took three Benelux-based professionals to Helsinki and the creative communities of Fiskars, Billnäs, and Ekenäs.

⭐️ Studio visits and exhibitions highlighted here, together with tailored meetings with organisations and makers, offered a firsthand experience of Finland’s rich design heritage, contemporary practices and the communities that support them.

At the heart of the trip was the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale, bringing together contemporary art, design and architecture in the unique setting of Fiskars Village.

Save this post for your next trip to Finland! 🇫🇮
