Demian

Miről szól igazából a Demian?

Demian

I don't think I've ever read anything that felt so earthly and surreal at the same time. Hesse somehow twists the knife in you in a way that makes the pain bring recognition with it—the realization that the blade was quietly plunged into us sometime during our journey into adulthood. It rusted there unnoticed, waiting only for the right moment to sink deeper into our souls.

What is Demian about?
In short? A boy's coming-of-age story and the kind of friendship that never truly breaks. All of it sprinkled with psychoanalysis and a touch of philosophy.

But what is Demian really about?
You. Me. Someone. Everyone.Life.The bright side of life and its hidden underside. This is not only Sinclair's story, nor Demian's. It is at once pure and dirty. It lifts you up and drags you down. It gives you wings and breaks them.

That is Demian.

(For this post, I chose works by extraordinary artists to accompany the quotes—pieces that, to me, carry the spirit of the novel and evoke the same feelings as the story itself. Take a moment to discover these artists and allow yourself to step away from reality, if only for a little while)
