I’m thrilled that my French tutor, Karima Mezoughem Brahimi, @mezoukarima , has been voted as a finalist in the #FrenchAustralianAwards in the culture category. Karima has been tutoring French adults in Sydney at #alliancefrançaise for over 20 years and at @unsw. After a year of weekly 2 hour tutoring in 2017, I was able to deliver a plenary lecture at the Journées Dermatologiques de Paris in the Palais de Congrès in French and two other lectures in French. As a special guest of the French society of Dermatology, I was invited to dine at Le Meurice. She organised French musical soirées at our home in Sydney where her other pupils and our Francophile Australian friends came to sing the songs of Charles Aznavour after he died and other French greats. She more recently established FrenchAtWork where other professionals have enjoyed similar improvements. Since then, I’ve been invited to deliver talks en français at congresses in La Réunion and Tunisie, and twice more at the JDP in Paris, on other topics. Two years ago I was very honoured to receive a French-Australian Award fior research at the Embassy in Canberra. It’s great that Australians have been benefiting from a cross-cultural gem like Karima for so long! I hope she is selected by the jury this year for the awards being presented in Melbourne. Please like or share if you think she merits recognition.

Great news! For the past 7 years our trial centre led by our PI @professor_dedee_murrell was the lead Australian site for the ARCADIA1 phase 3 trial and then 5 years long term followup of #nemolizunab for #atopicdermatitis. The phase 2B was published in JACI, phase 3 in Lancet and now the 2year Long term in @jeadv_ . Nemolizumab was approved by the TGA and last month received a positive recommendation from the PBAC for reimbursement/funding for patients. This is good news for those with ocular side effects and facial irritation as nemolizumab didn’t do that. #nemolizumab #eczema
