260+ law enforcement agencies have changed how they handle sexual assault reports, because ONE mother refused to let her daughter’s murder be the end of the story.

Tracy Matheson founded Project Beloved and built two concrete tools that are now changing how survivors are treated after an assault:

1. Trauma-informed “soft interview rooms” inside police departments

2. “Beloved Bundles,” care packages that let survivors leave the hospital with clean clothes and their dignity after a forensic exam

You can sponsor a room or have a packing party to assemble Beloved Bundles!

Share this so more survivors and more departments know this resource exists and they get more support. What a fantastic way to make a difference and keep her daughter’s legacy going! Cheering you on Tracy Matheson!

Conyers Police Department Enhances Survivor Interview Room Through Community Partnership

The Conyers Police Department Criminal Investigations Division has partnered with Project Beloved, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual assault, to transform the Department’s soft interview room into a more welcoming, trauma-informed space.

The project began with a fresh coat of paint in a softer, more calming color to help create an environment that feels less intimidating for survivors. On Wednesday, July 22, local volunteers joined Conyers Police Detectives to unpack and install new furniture, artwork, and décor designed to further enhance the room and provide a safe, comfortable setting for survivor interviews.

This initiative was spearheaded by Detective Alexus Brooks, who reached out to Project Beloved after attending specialized training on trauma-informed investigations involving survivors of sexual assault. Her efforts helped bring this meaningful partnership to the Conyers Police Department and reflect our continued commitment to compassionate, survivor-centered care while conducting thorough and professional investigations.

According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, sexual assault remains one of the most underreported crimes in the United States. Creating a comfortable, trauma-informed interview environment can help reduce barriers to reporting, support survivors during the investigative process, and strengthen the quality of investigations.

The Conyers Police Department is grateful to Project Beloved and the local volunteers whose generosity and dedication helped create a space where survivors can feel safe, respected, and supported while speaking with Detectives.

Together, these efforts strengthen our ability to serve victims with dignity, compassion, and professionalism.

We had an amazing Lunch and Learn with our charity partners last week! This was an opportunity for us to share how we generate funds for these non-profits.
💡 When a new Thigbe client signs up, they choose a charity partner to support.
💡 20% of our small fee goes straight to that non-profit.
💡 Each charity also has a referral code, which generates an additional $20 from Thigbe to the non-profit when a new client uses the code.

We’re honored to support these incredible missions by partnering with you, our clients.

💜 A huge thank you to Project Beloved for donating eight bins of comfort bags for survivors served through our SANE Program.

These bags provide comfort, dignity, and essential items to survivors of sexual assault during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Thank you for helping remind survivors they are seen, supported, and never alone. 💜

A room where survivors feel safe enough to share.

Created in partnership with Project Beloved, Arlington County Commonwealth's Attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti just installed a "soft interview room" at the courthouse — a calm, intentionally designed space where crime victims can meet with attorneys without the cold, intimidating feel of a standard conference room. Soft couch, warm blankets, soothing colors, art on the walls.

The space was built around one idea: survivors deserve to feel physically and emotionally safe before they're asked to share something hard.

"It's supposed to be really empowering to victims — to feel safe, to feel like they can share openly," said Grace Woodward, director of restorative justice and diversion services at the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.

This is Project Beloved's 150th room nationwide. That's 150 spaces where survivors can feel safer and more in control through some of the hardest and most vulnerable moments of their lives.

On Saturday, March 21, University of Notre Dame alumni clubs across the state of South Carolina came together in Columbia to support SCCADAVASA member rape crisis agencies, including Project R.E.S.T. and Tri-County Speaks. In conjunction with Beloved Bundles, a national victims’ rights organization founded by the mother of a young woman who was raped and murdered, the group came together to assemble and deliver more than 150 personal care packages, including fresh clothes, underwear, stress relief items, and toiletry items to be given to victims in the immediate aftermath of an assault. The goal of the organization is to ensure that victims are believed and know that they are loved and supported.

SCCADVASA Executive Director Sara Barber spoke to the group to share statistics on assault and domestic violence, an update on pending legislation, and guidance on how they can help. [image description: Photo of participants gathered and smiling while holding personal care package bags.]

The North Ridgeville Police Department recently opened a trauma-informed “soft interview room” with the help of Project Beloved, a nonprofit organization that aims to empower sexual assault survivors.

Project Beloved was founded by Tracy Matheson, a mother whose 22-year old daughter, Molly, was sexually assaulted and killed in 2017.
