The most important thing you can do is practice. Especially when it’s hard. That’s what Project 9 was built on. The real work. We just finished our 15th year with top players who want to reach their top potential. I remember being their age and thinking I had all the time in the world. Time flies. Take it from me.

Project 9 brings together the best HS players in the world to prepare them for college ball. Reality is when you step on campus your freshman year, it doesn’t just begin. It picks back up exactly where it left off for the team last Spring. Expectations are championships and the clock is ticking. There are 3 classes of players above you who know the playbook and practice schedule. I remember our first fall practice at Hopkins. Literally drill number one, dodge number two. Coach Petro called me out. I had to do a 1v1 against our senior first team All American defender, Tom Garvey. Welcome to the show.

Over 14 years we’ve worked with guys from the US and Canada, the Six Nations, England and Australia. Every year we learn more from them. And every year we get to watch them compete in college, pro and international.

This post reminds me of the coaches who shaped me. And how it’s now our responsibility to pass it on. Hopefully, there’s a video or quote that resonates with you.

Thank you PrepLacrosse and Ty Xanders for the excellent write-up for Long Island Express alum John Balsamo and Cameron James.

Compliments to Project Nine Co-Founders Mark Millon and Paul Rabil for organizing and executing an outstanding training based event for some of the best 2026 and 2027 players in the country.

Long Island Express & Deerfield Academy defenseman Henry Oliver (’26) was recognized by Prep Lacrosse as one of the top defenders at Project 9! 💪

Standing at 6’2”, Henry showed why he’s one of the most complete and improved players in his class — combining size, speed, IQ, and composure to lock down opponents and push transition.
