Picture the scene.

1:30am. Alarm goes off. Gear ready, drive to the start, set up.

3:00am. First loop.

6.7km every hour, on the hour, for six hours. Over 40km, starting in 84% humidity, with temperatures climbing towards 42°C after sunrise.

The first three loops felt controlled. The last three were a different story. Heart rate climbing, pack getting heavier, heat building.

I was cooked.

And that was just six hours.

Soon I’ll be running 1,700km unsupported across Albania, Greece and Turkey. There will be long hours and lonely moments where it’s just me, the road and my own head.

But Friday reminded me that while I might be running unsupported, I’m not doing this alone.

To everyone who got out of bed in the middle of the night to run with me, thank you. Some of you ran more than a marathon through the heat and humidity just to support me and this mission.

Absolutely blown away by this community.

When it gets tough out there, knowing I have people back in the UAE behind me will mean everything.
