Yesterday, James from MDC and Shane from @projectapower joined the @gorv_aus team and went on their 'Tow & Tell' Podcast to talk all things 48V and the all-new XT MK4 range.

We got into why MDC chose Projecta 48V, what it means for real off-grid touring, and the thinking behind building XT MK4 to go further, stay out longer and give you more freedom when you get there.

A great conversation about what makes XT MK4 one of the most capable and well-appointed genuine off-grid, off-road caravan ranges in the market.

Podcast dropping soon. Stay tuned 🎙️

⚡ JEREMY’S JAYCO DISCOVERY — OFF-GRID UPGRADE

🔋 600Ah OF LITHIUM | ☀️ 1,140W OF SOLAR

More battery storage, more solar charging and Victron inverter power for everyday comforts away from powered sites.

❗ THE SYSTEM

🔋 600Ah total lithium battery bank
⚡ Victron MultiPlus-II 3000VA inverter/charger
🔌 Up to 120A mains charging through the MultiPlus-II
☀️ 1,140W combined rooftop solar
🔵 Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/45
📊 Victron SmartShunt battery monitoring

Battery configuration:

🔋 1 × new Renogy 300Ah lithium battery
🔋 1 × retained existing 300Ah lithium battery
🔋 Secure external battery mounting and upgraded connections

Solar configuration:

☀️ 4 × 160W panels — 640W wired 2S2P
☀️ Dedicated Victron MPPT 150/45 for the new array
☀️ Existing 500W array retained through the Projecta system

Both solar systems contribute to charging the battery bank, making use of the existing equipment while adding more rooftop generation.

The Victron equipment is fitted neatly within the existing cabinetry, with access for servicing. The installation also included upgraded cabling, fusing and rectification of existing wiring and terminations.

❗ WHAT THIS UPGRADE DELIVERS

✔ More stored energy for overnight use
✔ More solar capacity to replenish the batteries
✔ 240V inverter power away from powered sites
✔ Battery monitoring to track charge and consumption
✔ Less reliance on plugging in
✔ A practical upgrade that works with the existing caravan

600Ah of lithium, 1.14kW of rooftop solar and a 3000VA Victron inverter/charger — a substantial boost to this Discovery’s off-grid capability.

❗ Looking for a system designed around your appliances and how you travel? Send us a message. Every installation can be customised to your caravan, needs and budget.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞?

We’re always curious to see where everyone is exploring, so tell us your next destination in the comments. You might just give us an idea for a future adventure! 😉

For us, we’re soaking up a pretty special chapter of the journey. ❤️

We’ve spent the last few years chasing roads, finding camps, exploring new places and making memories together.

And with our little adventure getting closer to joining us, things are about to look a little different around here. 🥰

More roads. More camps. More exploring.

And eventually, a very small passenger joining us for the ride. ❤️

Still pinching ourselves that this is home 🏠 AND we built it all by ourselves 🥺😍
•
For those wondering where do we all sleep? 😴
Nick & I are in the queen bed with Maisie (the baby) 👶
Then the boys sleep together in the pop up rooftop which they call the penthouse 🤗
•
Yes it’s small, yes it’s basic and we don’t have much in there but we absolutely LOVE it! We have found we don’t need much at all! & It feels like ‘home’ to us all ✨
