When MOVEMENT meets MINDFULNESS, MAGIC is created💚✨

This wasn't just another MixxedFit class...this was PURPOSE in motion!

Yesterday's Mindful Movement MixxedFit class for Minority Mental Health Awareness Month was such an amazing time! We danced, laughed, released, and healed together! Movement is truly the best medicine 😊💞!

Thank you for standing in solidarity and helping shine a light on conversations our communities need to keep having. 💚 Seeing a sea of green in support of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month meant more to me than you'll ever know!

What touched me the most was looking around the room and seeing my students from different locations showing up to support me and this cause that means so much to me 🩷 My OneLife family, my T2 family, my friends, my family, my Eastern Star sister, and so many others all came together to support this beautiful event. That kind of love is something I'll never take for granted. Thank you 🥹

A huge thank you to Project ORF & Shawnice for recognizing that movement is medicine and for trusting me with this incredible partnership. I truly can't wait for what we create together next!

One step. One community. One purpose. 💚🔥 Until we dance again 😘 - Yatta 🩷

Who said learning has to happen in a classroom? 👀

Such a great time facilitating this interactive mental health workshop where students moved, laughed, collaborated, and challenged themselves while building real-life skills. 💥

From teamwork 🤝 and resilience 💪 to positive self-talk 🧠, mindfulness 🌱, and knowing when to ask for help, every activity was designed to make these conversations meaningful, memorable, and fun.

Because the best learning happens when students are engaged, connected, and empowered ✨The basketball themed activities were a big hit! 🏀

Here’s to building confident, resilient young people one experience at a time! 🏀

Here are some of the biggest lessons I got from this year’s Surviving Through Mental Health:

💚 Sometimes our behaviors are shaped by patterns of survival and not patterns of healing.

💚 Working in a helping profession doesn’t make us immune to life’s challenges. We can spend our days supporting, encouraging, and guiding others while quietly struggling ourselves. And sometimes, we miss the signs.

💚 There’s a unique kind of vulnerability in realizing you know how to help others, but you’re having a hard time helping yourself. It can feel uncomfortable, even embarrassing. But that doesn’t make you less capable. It makes you human.

💚 Asking for help isn’t a weakness; it’s a necessary part of growth. Sometimes what we need most is a reset. We need a chance to pause, shift our perspective, and replace the negative narratives with ones rooted in hope, grace, and possibility.

💚 Growth rarely happens in our comfort zone. It happens when we’re willing to be vulnerable, learn from others, and pivot when needed.

🔥💯 The people who support others deserve support, too. Healing isn’t something we only encourage in others; it’s something we deserve ourselves.

Whew, I pray to see you there next year! 🙏🏽💚

Thank you @cityofnorfolkva and @projectorf_ for creating this amazing community 🔥💯

I was honored to join Project ORF’s Surviving Through Mental Health event on July 9 for a panel discussion with Secretary Figueroa on the important role legislators play in advancing mental health support.

Expanding access to care, investing in resources, and continuing the conversation are all essential to building healthier communities.

Thank you to Project ORF for creating a space where these important conversations can take place. Together, we can continue breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.

Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

The 3rd Annual Surviving Through Mental Health Community Conversation brought our community together last Thursday for a powerful moment of truth and healing.

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, named in honor of Bebe Moore Campbell; an author, advocate, and co‑founder of NAMI Urban Los Angeles whose work pushed for stigma reduction, culturally informed care, and community‑based mental health education.

We honored the Black and Brown generations who carried burdens in silence so we could speak openly today. Now the work of healing in community is ours, naming what was hidden, facing what hurts, and planting seeds for those who come next.

Thank you to every attendee, panelist, sponsor, vendor, @photographybychad and every volunteer who made this space possible. And a special thank‑you to Shawnice Hernandez, co‑founder of STMH , for her vision and commitment to community.

This moment wasn’t just conversation it was continuation of connection, resilience, and community healing. 💚✨

Grateful for the opportunity to serve as a panelist and share my journey of transitioning from being a college athlete into the next chapter of my life.

I had the chance to speak about the obstacles and opportunities that shaped my resilience, the importance of finding your identity through life’s toughest transitions, and what it means to pivot when your path changes.

As a young Black man, it was especially meaningful to discuss the value of asking for support, embracing growth, and recognizing that strength isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being willing to evolve.

Thank you to everyone who made this conversation possible. I hope my story encouraged others to embrace change, trust the process, and keep moving forward.
