Some moments you don’t post right away. You just sit with them.

Last month I stood at the groundbreaking of CasaCuba at FIU — a project eleven years in the making, brought to life by one of my closest friends, George Corton, who dreamed this into existence and refused to let it go.

As an immigrant myself, I understand something about leaving a country behind, about building a life in a place that wasn’t originally yours. That’s why when George talks about honoring the Cuban journey, the exile journey, and giving it a permanent home here — it means something to me. And it means even more because I know what this means to him and to a community that helped raise me.

George and I met at FIU — two kids who had no idea what we were building toward. Watching him stand at that podium, his brothers in the room with him, was a reminder of why legacy matters. Why we build. Why we refuse to let the things that shaped us fade.

I donated because I believe in what this place will mean. And knowing that our names will live inside CasaCuba as founders makes it even more personal.

George — this is your legacy. A gift for your family and for generations to come. I cannot wait to walk through those doors with you and celebrate this giant accomplishment. Beyond proud of you. 🇨🇺🇺🇸

I don’t talk about the early years much.

Arriving in the US from Peru at 11. No English. No network. No blueprint for what came next.

Twenty years later: two companies, campaigns for over 30 brands — from McDonald’s and Kia to Norwegian Cruise Line and Copa Airlines — and a career built entirely without a playbook.

Tomorrow I’m sharing the story I’ve mostly kept out of professional spaces.

It’s about building without instructions. Betting on yourself before you have proof it will work. And what it actually takes to go from immigrant kid figuring out Miami to founder running two companies in it.

I’m sharing it because I wish I’d had someone who looked like me, who’d walked a path like mine, to watch and learn from.
