When your son is playing junior hockey hundreds of miles from home, a great billet family doesn’t just provide a place to sleep. They’re the people who become his support system, his second family, and the steady foundation that lets him grow on and off the ice.

They show up after tough practices and long road trips. They celebrate the wins, help him reset after the losses, and give him the stability and care that makes being away from home feel manageable. For a young player, that kind of environment matters more than most people realize.

We’ve been incredibly fortunate with the billet family Paxon has in Great Falls. Jody and Sharlene have been amazing! Welcoming, supportive, and genuinely invested in him. We’re so grateful he gets to be with them while he plays for the Great Falls Americans. Thank you for opening your home and hearts. It means more than we can say.

Got a nice little lift in with Paxon while visiting him in Great Falls, Montana. He’s gotten so much bigger since we dropped him off in August!

18 today.

I still remember the little kid version of you like it was yesterday. Now you’re packing up and heading to Montana to chase your dreams on your own.

It went by too fast. All those years of watching you grow into the young man standing in front of me feel like they happened in a blink.

Proud of who you’ve become. Proud of the way you carry yourself. And proud that you’re ready to put real space between yourself and everything that’s tried to hold you back.

Laura and I are all in and EXCITED for YOU on this next chapter. Go live it out there, Paxon. Make it yours.

Happy birthday!

What an unforgettable 43rd birthday weekend at Lake Okoboji!

To my incredible wife Laura, Paxon and Prezley, and my closest friends Dan, Liz, Caleb, Maddie, Lydia (Daniel), Menno, and Colton…thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all showed up in the biggest way and made this one of the best weekends I’ve ever had.

From trusting me to captain the boat, to wakeboarding, tubing, water jousting, swimming, and soaking up the sun… every moment was pure joy. Hitting the roller coaster at Arnold’s Park, grabbing sweet treats at Frozen Parrot and the Nutty Bar Stand, cruising around on the golf cart, hitting the gym, and grilling out.

I loved all of you rocking temporary tattoos of me! And Lydia, that dessert charcuterie tray (aka the char-cheat-erie tray) was legendary. Perfect for my clean diet! 😂

I’m so grateful to be surrounded by the people I love and care about most. The laughs, the memories, and the love this weekend filled my cup more than I can say. Thank you for making my 43rd one I’ll never forget.

Love you all ❤️
