When I was in Guanajuato last summer, I went to the Museo Ex-Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera and was amazed by their variety of beautiful gardens and plants 🌱 the Plumbagos Auriculata — Blue Plumbagos — were some of my favorite flowers I saw growing there, so as part of my program with @psuprintmexico I used them for my first-ever drypoint prints 🪻💙

Two of my favorite things that I saw repeatedly while in Guanajuato with @psuprintmexico were sunflowers and prickly pears 🌻🍐 although I was surrounded by giant crates filled to the brim with this fruit, I somehow never ended up trying one! It’ll be one of my main priorities to do so when I go back 😋 what stands out the most to you when you visit a new place? 🎒

Blue Plumbagos (2025)

Last summer I was incredibly fortunate to get to study printmaking abroad in Guanajuato, Mexico. One of my favorite places I visited was the Museo Ex-Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera, where over seventeen international styles of gardens hosted flowers like these blue plumbagos 💙 this was my first time experimenting with etching, which I found to be one of the most enjoyable printing techniques I’ve encountered so far. What’s your favorite printmaking technique? 🧑‍🎨🖌️

Hello my fellow artists! Of the 5 los diablitos prints I made in Mexico, I will be selling 3 of them at @offthegriddlepdx

For these prints I used a dry point etching technique and added acrylic paint for color.

So come check them out and take one home with you if it speaks to your inner devil 😈

I 3D printed a press! It’s a dang miracle but I pulled it off. Taking this portable press to Guanajuato to do some plein air printing w @piramidalgrafica ! Thanks to @openpressproject for the 3D design and help, and Eric Jensen at PSU for the confidence. This was definitely a type of technology I never thought I’d pull off so feeling very proud of this lil ding dong.
