Is this the most important psychedel*c religious freedom case this century?

On October 15, Singularism, a Utah-based entheogenic religious organization that uses ps*locybin mushrooms in its ceremonies, asked the full Tenth Circuit Court in Denver, Colorado to rehear their long-running legal case “Jensen v. Utah County”

The petition for a rehearing challenges an October 5 decision by a three-federal judge panel that now has Singularism’s legal team saying the new age psychedelic religion are prepared to take the fight to the Supreme Court.

Join Psychedel*c State(s) of America, Psychedel*cs Today and Singularism’s leaders, allies, advisors, and legal team for a closer look at the latest updates in the case.

Louisiana is paying for ibogaine clinical trials with opioid settlement money.

The agreement governing that money requires a published accounting of where every dollar goes. The law creating the trials (Act 956) requires nothing about publishing what the trials find.

“It is a careful law. That is the problem.”

In the inaugural Regulatory Dispatch from Psychedel*c State(s) of America, epidemiologist and regulatory scientist Odette Alina Hauke, M.S., traces how the statute was written, and where results reporting could still be required before the first progress reports arrive in January 2027.

FDA is taking public comments on ibogaine trial design and safety through Nov. 20 (Docket FDA-2026-N-10429).

“If Psychedel*cs can heal, why wait to be broken?” 🎬

On Vol. II of The Psychedel*c Silver Screen, filmmaker Xavier Rousset (@xavier.films) joins host Jim Tate to talk about A Trip to Transformation.

It’s a four-year documentary shot across Australia’s medical model, Oregon’s supervised adult-use program and the retreat culture of the Netherlands.

His case: these medicines’ real promise may be proactive wellbeing, not last-resort treatment.

He makes it on camera, drawing on his own history with depression and anxiety.

Psychedel*c studies have already entered higher education, bringing serious academic attention to research, psychology, spirituality, ethics, history, and emerging models of care.

But an important question remains:

What happens when psychedeli*c higher education can move beyond studying practice and include meaningful practical formation itself?

This Thursday, join @psychedeliamericas Founder and investigative journalist Jack Gorsline (@jack.gorsline), Dr. Jim Garrison, Founder and President of Ubiquity University (@ubiquity_university), and Dr. Paul Ryder, Founding Minister of the Congregation for Sacred Practices (@congregationforsacredpractices), for a live conversation about an emerging model of psychedel*c higher education that joins graduate-level scholarship with religious-use-protected spiritual formation, practicum, mentorship, and ethics.

DYK? Psychedel*c policy is splitting in two, with FDA medicalization and community decriminalization forging different futures for access to psychedel*cs in the U.S. of A

The FDA track runs through strict clinical frameworks, corporate pharmaceutical patents, and expensive paywalls. The local track puts cognitive liberty and equitable, non-medical access first.

And as federal progress speeds up, local reform is accelerating too:

Last month, Pierce County, WA voted unanimously to make entheogens its lowest law enforcement priority.

Similarly, Nevada City, CA voted unanimously to protect adult use, cultivation, and sharing.

And on Wednesday, September 30th, Portland, Oregon’s city council will vote on the Psychedel*c Health and Safety Act.

What do you think? Will psychedel*cs become a corporate monopoly, or a protected right for cognitive liberty? Sound off in the comments section below!
