Rutgers Prep's margins don't lie — but the Argonauts still earned their spot the hard way. Sitting at #3 with a 7.5 AdjEM, the Somerset County side edged #6 Pingry 1-0 on Oct 24, the key win keeping them ahead of higher-rated teams. The real shakeup is at #4: Shawnee (15-0-1) climbed past #5 Paul VI by beating them head-to-head, and now the unbeaten Renegades sit above five higher-rated teams despite a 6.9 rating.

Morris County owns a third of the top 10 — Randolph, Chatham and Montville — all NJAC. Randolph (#8) jumped three spots and climbed past #9 Chatham on the strength of that result.

How these rankings work:
AdjEM (the blue chip) is our power rating: how good a team is, built to predict the next game. We line teams up by AdjEM, then honor head-to-head results: beat a team above you and you climb past them, the two of you meeting in the middle. Where two teams haven't met, the rating decides. Each team's chips are its key results — the highest-ranked teams it beat and the team above it that beat it — with the rank the opponent holds this week.

The fine print:
• Each honored result buys a fixed budget of movement, charged by the square of the spots moved — so a result reaches about 20 spots of rating order, and a chain of results costs more than its parts
• Ties and forfeits are ignored; a series played more than once goes to the side that won more of it
• Results form cycles (A beat B, B beat C, C beat A) that no order can fully honor. A result that can't be honored is the grey chip: that team still sits above a team that beat it
• NJSIAA members only; recomputed after every ratings update — this board posts every Sunday

[PART 1 OF 2]

The Red Bank Catholic Caseys handled business in the Shore crossover, blanking St. John Vianney 2-0 behind Lexi Sinatra (1G, 1A) and Nina Bicej's goal to climb three spots to 12-2-1.

In NJAC American play, the West Morris Wolfpack shut out the Roxbury Gaels 2-0 as Alanna Vieira and Alexa Hade each found the net. Randolph's Joslyn Minde struck twice in a 3-0 blanking of Sparta, while Howell rolled 5-0 over Rumson-Fair Haven, powered by a goal and assist apiece from Isabella Farinick and Kylie Keating.

Every morning we recompute our NJSIAA rankings from the latest results. The green up / red down arrows on each card show how many spots a team moved compared with the previous morning's rankings. UPSET marks a result where the losing team came in as a clear favorite in our ratings (home advantage included). SNAPPED marks a result that ended a run of five or more straight wins in that series — every meeting between the two schools on record, back to 2010. Swipe through for all of the day's scores.
