With some old friends in London. Patrick Bergin has done more than 80 films and TV movies and is best known internationally for playing the menacing husband of Julia Roberts’ character in the thriller Sleeping With the Enemy or for his role as an Irish terrorist alongside Harrison Ford in the film adaption of Patriot Games. He starred opposite Uma Thurman in the 1991 TV movie “Robin Hood,” playing the title role, and was a psychotic Provisional Irish Republican Army gunman in Johnny Was, with Vinnie Jones and Roger Daltrey.

On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to co-moderate an international discussion on the effects of COVID_19 for the #imcas academy. Hundreds of physicians from around the world interacted about their countries’ experience with the novel #coronavirus and how it has affected their ability to practice medical and cosmetic care in a new era. The contrasts were stark. For example, in South America the difficulty of practicing correct handwashing is complicated by the lack of clean water in some areas. Taiwan stood as an example of a country that was far better prepared than most others. Rigorous social distancing, rapid testing and close follow-up of positive patients has enabled them to fare far better than here in the US. In fact, physicians are cautiously keeping their practices open with rigorous screening of patients prior to entry into clinics (checklist of symptoms/ temperature) and sanitary practices.

Colleagues were disappointed when I showed a relatively crowded scene of street strollers here in boston just 2 days ago 👉🏻 indicating the limits of efforts to practice socialdistancing even today.
