KANDO 2026 / DIARY ENTRY:

Kando felt a little different for me this year.

I came into these three days wanting to take things slower. Less about chasing every shot, and more about actually being present in each experience.

To shoot with intention, to observe a little more, and to remind myself why I enjoy doing this in the first place.

And of course, to never forget to PLAY.

THE JOY OF MAKING -

There was A LOT happening within these three days.

Every experience threw us into something completely different.

I think slowing down strangely made me want to experiment even more.

Not everything needed to be the perfect shot. Sometimes it was just about trying something, getting it wrong, trying again, and seeing where it takes me.

There was definitely blood, sweat and tears somewhere in there too 🙇🏻‍♂️

FINDING MY VOICE -

Beyond shooting, I actually spent a lot of time watching how everyone else creates.

Photographers, filmmakers, YouTubers, hybrids. Some have been doing this for years, some are still finding their voice, and some are probably figuring things out at the same stage as me.

We could all be standing in front of the exact same scene, yet somehow walk away with completely different images and stories.

I loved that.

A lot of the conversations I had also left me questioning my own work afterwards.

What do I actually want to make? What do I want people to feel from my work? What is uniquely mine? How can I merge my art and content? @pat_kay

WHAT I’M TAKING HOME -

Maybe that’s what I’m taking home from Kando this time.

Not necessarily more answers, but a lot more questions about myself and the kind of creator I want to become.

I’m grateful for every conversation, every person who shared how they see the world, and all the little moments in between the shooting.

It felt incredibly short, but somehow there was a lot to take home from it.

感動 indeed. Thank you @sonysingapore for having me.

Day 0/1 of #KandoTripSEA in Vietnam 🇻🇳🤍

Still feels surreal to be here and be part of this journey with so many incredible people.

Forever grateful for this opportunity and for the @sonyalpha_id family that made it even more special. 🫶🏻

Vietnam, let’s make some memories. 🇻🇳✨

$Life doesn’t arrive gently it spills, it fractures, it blooms anyway. There are mornings that taste like light slipping through your ribs, and nights that press against your chest like something unnamed, something you’re not ready to understand. You learn early that beauty and fear share the same skin. That the ocean can cradle you or swallow you whole, and somehow you keep stepping in. Growing up is a quiet betrayal. Not loud, not cruel just… persistent. Like waking up one day and realizing the house you built in your mind no longer has doors you can open. You try to remember the exact sound of your laughter before it learned how to hide, the way time used to stretch endlessly between sunsets and sleep. But memory is a fragile thing. It softens, blurs, rearranges like a dream that slips through your fingers the moment you reach for it. Years don’t ask for permission. They take. They layer themselves over your bones until you become someone your younger self would stare at with both wonder and fear. And still there is beauty in this unraveling. In the way your heart learns to hold both grief and gratitude in the same trembling breath. In the way you keep going, even when everything feels uncertain, even when you miss versions of yourself you can never return to. Life is terrifying like that how it moves, how it changes you, how it refuses to stay still. But god, it’s beautiful too. Because somewhere between what you’ve lost and what you’re becoming, there is a quiet, flickering truth: You are still here. Still feeling. Still reaching for light even when it scares you. #snapandyapjakarta$
