Black Wall Street stands as a permanent symbol of Black power and Black representation in Durham, North Carolina. We owe a special thank you to the ancestors and leaders who came before us to break barriers and create pathways. Because of them, the generations coming up can look forward with hope, knowing that education, success, and flourishing communities are OBTAINABLE.

2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣8️⃣, MONAI IS COMING FOR YOU🎓🫵🏾 I am not throwing away MY SHOT

To Asia: Hey girl you did it. Born not supposed to make it but you’re here. Walking across a stage that was unfathomable for your ancestors… that’s what you came here for. Our ancestors didn’t get the chance that our generation gets. You didn’t look past that chance, you took it. Took it and ran with it, never to look back. You made some mistakes through this Eagle journey but you made it. The times you felt like a disappointment, a failure, not qualified, uh huh YOU DID IT. Beat 2 court cases and still walked across that stage, yes ma’am. Beat suicide attempts, depression , anxiety, self destruction, self hate, and heartbreak; STILL WALKING ACROSS THAT STAGE. I am proud of the mark you’ve left on this Earth for your people. I am proud of the Woman you’ve become. I am proud of the EAGLE you’ve become. Most importantly though Asia, I love you and I mean it. I love you, unconditionally no matter what stage in life you’re in. I’ll never leave you, I’ll never abandon you, I’ll always hold you. P.S. You did it in 4️⃣, now you have to do it in 2️⃣.
