‘You have to go to Puck Fair,’ zei een dronken Ier in de pub. Dus gingen we. Elk jaar wordt in Killorglin een geit gekroond tot koning. Niemand weet precies waarom, maar het gebeurd al 400 jaar, dus gaan ze er gewoon mee door. Drie dagen lang viert iedereen feest alsof de geit het land heeft gered. Ondertussen verhandelen dorpelingen: paarden, ezels en kippen.🐓

De Resten van de Pelgrim (Iarsmaí an Oilithrigh) volgt een voettocht door Ierland, een pelgrimage langs eeuwenoude tradities. Het project onderzoekt hoe menselijke sporen door de tijd heen vervagen, veranderen en hun betekenis verliezen. Deze traditie waarvan de oorsprong verloren is gegaan, blijft voortbestaan.

🐐 Puck Fair 2026 🐐

Kerry Civil Defence was proud to provide medical cover throughout this year's Puck Fair Festival. Our volunteers were on duty from 9am at the Horse Fair on Monday 10th August and provided overnight medical cover until 4am across all three nights of the festival, as well as as providing water safety via our Swiftwater Rescue Team on Wednesday night, helping to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all.
A huge thank you to our colleagues from Limerick Civil Defence and Cork North and East Civil Defence for travelling to Kerry and assisting our crews throughout the festival. We would also like to congratulate the Puck Fair organisers on another successful event and extend our sincere thanks to all the volunteers who gave their time and commitment over the course of the week. Your dedication and teamwork are greatly appreciated. 🚑👏

arrived to Ireland's oldest fair @puck_fair with two goals: one- to embrace the traditions of Killorglin in the heart of the Kingdom, and two- to represent the legacy of titanic folk hero the Pecker Dunne, the tinker and traveller who made annual pilgrimages to the Puck and never ceased to be proud of his people, his class, his way of life and their traditions.

Little did I know I'd be given the honour of singing Pecker Dunne's "Portlaoise Jail" at the closing of the fair.

Now it's on family, onward and upwards ✊ I love this island, this country, this county, this town, I love it's people and their heart for story, community, and song, and I love the path which has been lain before me to get here, from Ohio to Kerry.

The path is paved in homage to the auld ones, the great ones, our forebearers in their wisdom. Bless up 🙏

Míle buíochas to everyone who called to see us over Puck Fair. Great to see all the old familiar faces return every year as well as all the new faces experiencing their first Puck Fair.

To our amazing staff who do trojan work all the time but they go above and beyond over the festival - thanks so much. To all our extended family and friends who help us every year no questions asked we are very grateful.

To all the musicians who entertained you over the 3 days and nights - you are all rockstars !
