The heavy rain spares no one here in Gaza, and our fragile tents offer little protection. Every drop that seeps inside brings more cold, dampness, and hardship. We try to find a dry spot, but often there is no shelter that can keep our children safe from getting wet and cold. These rains remind us of our vulnerability to both nature and the harsh conditions we endure daily. To support my family, the link is in my bio. Thank you from the heart to everyone who shares and helps ❤️🙏🏻

Slow mornings are the best. Coffee & holiday reads👌

Trying to add new genres to our book club reading this year so I recently asked for some ✨fantasy✨recommendations and these titles were mentioned.

Feels like the perfect escapist reads for my days off and I’m very excited to dive in and discover something new!

A big Merci ❤️ to @puckabook and @boredtodeathbookclub for recommending🚪📚🐉✨

*MARCH BOOK CLUB DISCUSSION POST*⁣
⁣
/⁣
⁣
It’s time to discuss the #ChronicallyIconicBookClub’s March read, THE WEIGHT OF OUR SKY by Hanna Alkaf. ⁣
⁣
Our discussion via group chat will take place starting today at the convenience of our members. Let me know in the comments if you’d like to join! I will also post 10 official discussion questions in the comments of this post that you can answer at your leisure if you’d prefer. ⁣
⁣
My thoughts: ⁣
⁣
This was the second time I read this book and I thought it was just as good as the first time around. Honestly though, I had forgotten how dark it was. This book pulls no punches when it comes to the portrayal of racial, sectarian violence. I was reading with my heart in my throat the whole time. Melati’s OCD was portrayed in a really interesting way. I learned so much about Malaysian history and OCD. This is still a five star read for me and I’m excited to hear what you all think!⁣
⁣
Reminder: this book fulfills the following prompts for the #ChronicallyIconicReadingChallenge: “mental health”, “written by a BIPOC”, “invisible disability”, & “set or written before the 21st century”.⁣

Look at all these books I could have bought but I didn't!

I love bookstores, book charity shops, libraries; I love touching, sniffing and admiring books. I just rarely buy them. Some people that go book browsing with me on a regular basis think I'm crazy 😂 But I just don't need something I'll never read on paper take up precious space in my house. I'll buy it if I loved it in another format.

QOTD: Do you sometimes leave a bookstore empty-handed or are you one of these people that just can't? (No shame here, I've been one of you for years! 😁)

••• Booksta Challenge •••

I loved the #lowercasebooktitles post @helenecats posted some time ago and looked through my shelves to see if I had any. These are some of my favorites (go read All the Young Men I'd you haven't yet!) and some not-so-favorites (Lie With Me, I'm looking at you 🧐). I also can't wait to reread We Were Liars sometime this year - it was one of my favorite books some 7 years ago, I wonder if the 37-year old me will still like it 😁

Have you read or do you want to read any of these?

••• LAST CALL READS 2021•••

I was tagged by @whatmamanreads to do this challenge and it's exactly what I need right now because I just completed my GR reading challenge and I'm thinking about which books will be my last of this year.

Dancing at the Pity Party is a graphic novel I mentioned lately in a post and it seriously is a contender for my favorite graphic memoir ever! Jij mag alles zijn is a Dutch book that has been on my radar for a long time and thanks to one of @tessaleest posts I remembered I was supposed to get it 😅 My Policeman is my upcoming buddy read with @shesaysbooks, so excited to see what the hype is about!

What are going to be your last books of 2021?
I'm tagging a few people, but feel free to do this tag anyway!

••• NOVEMBER WRAP-UP •••

Finally it's December!🎄

November was a lot to handle 😅 I'll spare you the details but it was busy in the worst way possible, so to unload mentally I found myself a new hobby: embroidery (pictured is my second ever attempt). That also means that my audiobook intake has increased and if it wasn't for my parents being here for the last week of November, I would have read/listened to a record amount of books. But it's not about the quantity of course ☺️

In November I read 9 books:

🍂 There's No Such Thing As an Easy Job by Kikuko Tsumura • 4⭐
🍂 What to Do When I'm Gone: A Mother's Wisdom to Her Daughter by Suzy Hopkins & Hallie Bateman • 4.5⭐
🍂 Magpie by Elizabeth Day • 4⭐
🍂 Matka siedzi z tyłu by Joanna Mokosa-Rykalska • 4⭐
🍂 Podpalacz by Wojciech Chmielarz • 4.5⭐
🍂 Farma Lalek by Wojciech Chmielarz • 4.5⭐
🍂 An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten • 3.5⭐
🍂 Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney • 4⭐
🍂 Przejęcie by Wojciech Chmielarz • 3.5⭐

How was your November reading? Tell me your favorite book of last month!

••• VERTICAL BOOK TITLES •••

I saw @cake.coffee.books do this #verticalbooktitles challenge and remembered that I have quite a few of these lying around!

I've read These Violets Delights, Hamnet, All the Light We Cannot See and A Little Life and all of these chunky boys were 5⭐ reads for me and some of my very favorites. I still have to read the other 3!

Have you read any of these?
