Rescue Friday!
Meet The Pug Hotel.

Not every rescue story ends with adoption. Sometimes, the happy ending is simply finding a safe place to stay.

The Pug Hotel is a sanctuary for senior pugs and dogs who have experienced trauma or have needs that can make traditional adoption difficult. Michelle gives them something every dog deserves: comfort, care, patience, and a place where they can just be.

And you may recognize one very special face, Jinny Lu, rescued from South Korea and crowned the 2026 World’s Ugliest Dog.

This is the kind of rescue work we love highlighting at Brachy Breeze. The quiet, everyday work that changes a dog’s entire world.

Give The Pug Hotel some love. Follow them, share their story, donate if you can and help more senior pugs find their safe place to land.

💙ADOPT ME❤️ 6yo Rumi is ready for her forever home! Like the character from K-Pop Demon Hunters that she was named after, Rumi the pug is dynamic & lovable.

She may be 6, but age ain’t nothing but a number! Her foster mom says, “In some ways, she seems more like a puppy!” She is sweet, energetic, curious, & vigilant - she pays attention to everything!

Fostered in Mendocino County, Rumi arrived in NorCal from Korea in early Oct w/a flight volunteer. When we rescued her from a for-profit animal facility in Jan, she had a mild case of canine coronavirus. We treated, vaccinated, & spayed her, then put her on a plane!

Her foster mom describes her:

Sweet & affectionate, Rumi likes to cuddle, play with her toys (plays fetch w/her toys.

She tries to play with blankets & pillows. She gently chews & tugs on them, but I tell her to leave it & distract her w/toys. Sometimes she is hyper at bedtime and wants to chew the sheets & blankets.

She is pee pad trained. Sometimes she doesn’t want to poop on our walks until she comes back inside to pee. Then we can go back outside to poop.

Crate trained? Not sure as we don’t use a crate.

I have only heard her bark once or twice when a neighbor’s dog barked.

She is not dominant over our other dog, Pumba (he’s the alpha), but she gets a little possessive/aggressive with her bully sticks.

Rumi is good w/other dogs so far. We walk w/our neighbor & her dog, and Rumi mostly ignores him. When other dogs come up to her, she stands still & allows them to sniff her.

She was great w/my 20mo grandson!

Rumi could be an only dog or w/other dogs. She loves attention from her humans. Since she is energetic, she might like running around w/another dog.

Rumi would likely do fine home alone for several hours. But, we haven’t her &Pumba much, but, for the short times we’ve been gone, she is asleep on her bed when we come home.

I believe the best home scenario for Rumi is one w/patient, loving people who can give her lots of affection, playtime, walks, & attention.

You should adopt Rumi bc she is adorable! Her small size makes her easy to pick up and walk her. She is alert, curious, & smart!

🐾 A Special Guest Is Visiting the Gardens!
We love the connections that bring our community together, and this Friday, we are welcoming a very special four-legged visitor!

Meet Jinny Lu, the Ukiah rescue pug who captured hearts across the country after winning the 2026 World’s Ugliest Dog Contest! 🏆

With her signature floppy tongue, pearl necklace, and big personality, Jinny Lu has gone from rescue pup to national celebrity, appearing on NBC’s TODAY show and making headlines in outlets including the Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Chronicle. Not bad for a little pug with a big story to tell!

Jinny Lu’s journey began in the mountains of South Korea, where she was rescued from a difficult start. With help from Pug Rescue of Korea, she eventually found her way to California and her forever home at The Pug Hotel, a nonprofit senior pug sanctuary in Ukiah. Jinny Lu is now helping shine a spotlight on rescue animals and the organizations dedicated to caring for them.

Join us at Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens on Friday, October 23, around 11 AM to meet Jinny Lu and learn more about her story, shake a paw, and snap a pic.

While you are here, enjoy a walk through the Gardens and stop by Rhody’s Garden Café.

We are happy to welcome Jinny Lu and the Pug Hotel to the Gardens for a morning celebrating rescue animals, community connections, and the joy of spending time together in a beautiful place.

🚨🎃🧡🐶Big news from Obi! 📢 This handsome foster boy just attended his very first pug event, and it was a dream come true (I have never seen this many pugs in one spot altogether at once)! 🎃🐾
It was the ultimate Halloween party, packed with festive Halloween potatoes everywhere you looked! 👻 He had the most amazing experience making so many new friends and even participated in the costume contest! Everyone looked absolutely adorable in their costumes. 🧛‍♂️🦁 The humans also got a little break to enjoy some amazing barbecue while the wonderful crew at @pugrescueofnortherncalifornia watched Obi for us! 🍖🔥
Whenever Obi needed a well-deserved break from all the attention, he would just rest in his air-conditioned potato stroller, which was totally okay because he still got to take it all in. 🛒🥔 Another super exciting part of the day was meeting the internet-famous Jinny Lu from @pughotel and getting some pictures with her! She is just as precious in person (voted the world’s ugliest dog? I think NOT! 🙅‍♀️❤️🐶🐾). She is a beautiful, magnificent, outstanding pug with the most amazing pearl necklace might I add! 👑✨ She is a sweetheart who loves loves loves to cuddle! 🥰💖
When we got home, Obi instantly fell asleep. 💤 He is currently snoozing away, having some amazing pug potato dreams. I hope all the other puggies are having a good rest and had a fun time today, too! 😴🐕
We want to send a huge thank you to Michelle, the owner of @pughotel for hosting this magical day alongside @pugrescueofnortherncalifornia and @bayareapugproject . It was such an amazing experience for us, and you all made it an unforgettable day for the pug community! 🙏❤️
And an extra special thank you to @pugrescueofnortherncalifornia for trusting us as fosters and putting sweet Obi in our lives. We are so lucky to have him! 🥰🏡
P.S. If you guys are ever looking to add a pug to your family, you should definitely message @pugrescueofnortherncalifornia @pughotel @bayareapugproject to learn more about adoption, fostering, and events! 💌🐾 #pug #fosterdog #halloween #spooky #adopt 🚨🎃ASK.ABOUT.OBI🎃🚨

I recently purchased two wooden carvings from Dennis Babas and donated one to the Pug Hotel for their silent auction. Several other items were donated from my collection of pug stuff too for the raffle Hoping they can raise money for their pugoween event. I won’t be able to attend this year🌺 check out details regarding the events in northern California at the pug hotel.
