NEW ARRIVAL | Seeing how artists collaborate to realize an idea and bring it to fruition is very inspiring. Metalsmith Suzanne Pugh raised two silver cups that fit beautifully inside a wooden case created by lathe master Fred Armbruster. The collaborative effort gives equal creative weight to both artists, with an outstanding result.

In 2014, a small group of artists from across the country were invited to dive more deeply into the motivations and questions of Radical Jewelry Makeover. These artists, who were all past participants of RJM, were asked to create a series of works using donated jewelry left over from previous donation drives. We asked them to consider a series of questions while making their pieces:

-How has the project influenced you?

-How do you weigh what techniques and materials you will use?

-How are creative license, personal safety, environment, and social responsibility factored into your choices?

-How do you anticipate future uses for the materials that you are using?

-Will a jeweler in the future be able to reuse your piece by disassembling or melting down the metal?

It is 2023 and we now have 22 invited artists who are current participants in the Artist Project! In this 4 post series, we are going to show off the amazing artists who make up our Artist Project! Up first are Yegeniya Kaganovich, Raissa Bump, Suzanne Pugh, Deb Lozier, and April Wood!
