For this month’s #CityScene, we’re looking back at two standout moments from the winter season ❄️

Back in January, guests gathered at L’escale for a memorable evening with Kat Ashmore, celebrating the launch of her new book Big Bites: Time to Eat! with a beautifully curated culinary experience 🍽️📖

In February, more than 300 supporters came together at Greenwich Country Club for the @girlswithimpact Trailblazer Gala, raising over $523,000 to empower the next generation of female leaders. The evening honored Maureen Polo with the 2026 Trailblazer Award 💫

We all have different rituals. One of mine involves really beautiful shoes. I tend to mark the major milestones in my life with a pair of Manolo’s. The great moments (finishing my manuscript), important transitions (a break-up that was hard but necessary), a big gig (leading journaling workshops at Hotel du Cap). All punctuated with a pair of Manolo’s.

Why? Because: joy. And also, there’s something to be said about building your confidence from the ground up.

So it was incredibly poignant to have Manolo Blahnik host a party in honor of the publication of my book, The Big Unlock.

The evening was graciously co-hosted by my chic friends @anncaruso and @meganstrachan. Editorial legend @punchhutton was kind enough to say a few words. The coupes were full, there were hugs and books and a lot of new faces, as well as some of my blood family and chosen family. And just to make things a little more surreal, trays of macarons imprinted with my book title floated by. It was dreamy, almost otherworldly and very, very meaningful.

And why do journaling and Manolo’s go together? Well, I’ve spent the last decade trying to shift the cultural perception of what it means to journal, to dispel fussy implications and elevate it through both science and beauty. Celebrating The Big Unlock here in this jewel-box of a location felt really right.

Huge thank you to Manolo Blahnik for making this evening one I will never forget. And of course, it was all punctuated by a new pair of gorgeous heels in which I will be sure to make more memories.

Congratulations to our brilliant, inspiring, bad-ass friend @lauralrubin on her @allswellcreative book launch! #thebigunlock is an antidote & sumptuous salve for the madness of the moment. Love yourself & grab a copy. Anyone who has ever journaled or been committed to morning pages will not be sorry. Thank you for such a wonderfully curated experience celebrating #selfcare with THE most amazing group of women, (many of whom I am proud to call friends). ❤️🪄✨ Liberate your creativity & connect to your authentic self & watch the magic manifest in your life. This book will help you do just that. (Brava, Ruby). @manoloblahnik @simonandschuster #manhattan #nyc

big thanks to @lauralrubin for inviting me to capture @allswellcreative’s “pathfinder” mindful writing retreat at @valleyrockinn last weekend.

from skincare rituals with @maylindstromskin, to morning movement with @sarrahstrimelbentley, to a cathartic burning ceremony with @valerieoula... from nourishing meals and stunning surroundings to deep conversation, quiet reflection, and time on the page, the weekend was nothing short of magic.

laura is a gifted and generous facilitator who cultivates creativity, connection, and community at every turn, but these few days were truly something special.

here’s some of what I saw through the lens, and a few of the spots where I put pen to paper... writing retreat, upstate New York

I needed a break. For years now…

I told everyone this but never actually took one as someone was always sick, things to do, obligations to go to…

@valleyrockinn x @lauralrubin Pathfinder Journaling Retreat fell into my lap at the perfect time — & it was only 50 minutes away from NYC ( no car necessary) so I felt like I could finally say YES to myself

I walked in thinking I was going to SLEEP and relax but it was actually the opposite (( in the best way)) …

It taught me what I actually needed was connection ✨

To myself. To other women. To nature

We woke up early, hiked in nature, @lauralrubin promoted & helped us go free while journaling, @sarrahstrimelbentley led a kick ass yoga session, @valerieoula led a burning ceremony, @maylindstromskin gave us her beautiful skin care products & instructed how to take a delicious “me-time” shower using them & @valleyrockinn provided the most gorgeous setting with a warm pool, sauna & cold plunge

…I arrived home Sunday evening & was thrown back into my NYC hustle /motherhood life but ( for now at least 😝) I’m taking a deep breath & things seem “lighter”

I have just returned after spending 48hrs mindfully journaling and reclaiming my truth with my soul sister and creative muse @lauralrubin of @allswellcreative . It all took place at @valleyrockinn , which is an idyllic paradise and I may be plotting a retreat of my own there in the fall (stay tuned) I was surrounded by the most beautiful humans and have walked away with magical new friends. My heart is full and grateful. When we get back to ourselves and fill our cups, we are able to spill over for all in our orbit, especially my baby and my love.

Plus, I got to teach yoga and collaborate with the unicorns that are @maylindstromskin and @valerieoula

“So while I think of it, let me paint a thank you on my palm for this God, this laughter of the morning. Lest it go unspoken. The joy that isn’t shared, I’ve heard, dies young” - Anne Sexton
