Thank you to @booooooom for featuring my work and the announcement of my new book on their site.

Pre-sales for the book have been great, thank you to everyone who pledged. If you haven’t bought it yet, take a moment to check it out. I’m very proud of it, and if you like what I do it’s a good opportunity to see a bunch of it all in one place.

Part of my life I work with really great people as an art advisor and assist them selecting works for their homes, offices and collections. This is a new commission from Joseph Staples in a stunning space on the west side. Three 4' x 8' acrylic panels with paper collage of dancers.

Happy Boxing Day! We are pleased to present Joseph Staples in our Light box Project Space in the New year!

January 8th - April 2nd, 2016
Opening: Friday, January 8th, 7-9PM
One Hour Photo: Saturday, February 20th, 1-2PM

Joseph Staples takes over Gallery 295’s Light Box Project Space with a scaled work that takes manoeuvres through the politics of collage emerging from the act of cutting a relief. Staples employs the cut towards a monochromatic red and reveals the white backlight surface of the lightbox between intimate lines and voids peeled away during the repetitive stencilling process. Traditionally Rubylith is a material associated with the production of a photographic relief within print making practices. The material blocks UV light, creating a negative for ink to pass through, most often used for blocking large areas of an image in the photographic exposure of stencils.
