I have never felt more connected to piece more. Escúchame by Daniel Catán from the Opera Florencia en el Amazonas will forever be one of my favorite operas. I don’t just love it for its music and story but for what it represents. Getting to watch a performance at the Met was life changing. I have never cried more. Having the opportunity to have my first language represented on such a big stage was so meaningful. I have never felt so much joy to be able to just focus on the performance since I didn’t have to look at the translations to understand the story. It was also special to feel represented on stage. Especially in a time where being different is not appreciated. It was truly inspiring to me as an audience member and a performer. I based my entire recital on this final aria.
It was extremely rewarding to have coached and performed it with @pablozingermusic. I will eternally be grateful to him for agreeing to help me with this piece. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me and inspiring me. 🦋
