When picking a college, there was only one thing that I knew for certain—the school had to have an equestrian team. I knew I wanted to continue riding in college, but I never could have imagined how important this team would become to me. It has been an honor to be part of this program and to grow alongside this team. After spending the last three years mostly behind the scenes in leadership roles, it meant the world to me to be able to compete at nationals. I will be forever grateful for all my teammates, my coaches, and the horses that made this dream a reality 💛🖤🚂

That happy feeling when my two favorite collegiate equestrian teams both finish in the top 10 at @rideihsa nationals! My alma mater, @otterbeinalumni placing pretty in pink (5th) in the nation AND my ammy years' trainer's alma mater and old team, @lifeatpurdue looking awful fine in some purple (7th)! These young equestrians worked so hard to get to nationals, and I'm thrilled those Midwestern Ohio and Indiana ladies showed them why #midwestisbest 😍.

🚨Alumni Spotlight🚨 We are so proud of Red Barn Woodside IEA graduates, Abby Shelchuk and Laura Jun on their participation this weekend at @rideihsa National Finals. On top of their individual qualifications and Top 5 National Final finishes in Open Flat, both Abby and Laura secured spots as their region’s Open High Point rider, qualifying them to compete this weekend in the prestigious USHJA High Point Rider Cacchione Cup class. Fun fact, Head Coach Katie won this class in 2017 while riding for @centenaryequine ! We are so proud of their continuation of collegiate riding and the amazing use of their catch riding skills acquired through their time on our @rideiea team! Swipe ➡️ for some throwbacks of their time in IEA 🤩 We wish Abby, a senior at @purdueequestrian , and Laura, a freshman @uscequestrian , much luck as the rest of the IHSA National Finals weekend continues! #rideiea #rideihsa #ushja

Riding dump because we leave for nationals tomorrow and I compete on Friday! The last month has brought so much growth and I am grateful to get the chance to end my IHSA career at nationals! Thank you @kathryn_kraft for giving us extra opportunities to practice despite your extremely busy schedule. Thank you @abbyblank from @three_ships_llc for volunteering your time to do a clinic for our riders! Thank you @megandtaylor_ for sitting down to speak with us about our riding! Regardless of how nationals goes, I am grateful for the growth I have had this month and over the last four years with @purdueequestrian 💛🖤

Just over a week ago I got to compete at the last Tournament of Champions of the season at Findlay! I got to ride in both Limit Fences and the Low Medal and had an absolutely blast. In Limit Fences, I got 4th place out of 12 riders (last video) and I got 3rd place in the Low Medal out of 18 riders (first video)!! I’m so grateful I had to opportunity to represent the team at the last tournament of the season! Also sorry (not sorry) - my lifting spam has been taken over by horses this semester 💛🖤

Riding dump because ya girl qualified for zones!! Last weekend I got to compete in my last regular season show of college and qualified for regionals in both flat and fences! I was prepared for regionals yesterday to be my last show, but it went better than I could have dreamed and I qualified for zones for both flat and fences! This will be my first time competing at zones in my 4 years on the team, and I am so grateful that qualifying has extended my senior season! This semester has been a whirlwind with trying to finish my research project, keeping up with classes, craziness with my job, still going to the gym of course, and practicing as much as I can, so qualifying for zones has been a confidence and morale boost I needed! I am so grateful to represent this team and cannot wait for zones at the end of the month!
