On Labor Day, a tribute to the hands that built Michigan.

The Mackinac Bridge didn’t rise from the Straits on its own. It was built by skilled, hardworking men who took on one of the most challenging and dangerous construction projects of its time.

This monument to the bridge workers, with the Mighty Mac behind him, feels especially meaningful today.

Happy Labor Day to all who build, create, maintain and keep our communities moving. 🇺🇸

A rose, is a rose, is a rose, but a peony, now that is not a rose! A peony, with its layers upon layers of petals, suggests to me, that some things can be more complex than they first appear. From just a simple bud to wild unbridled beauty the peony unveils its natural complexity every June. I can hardly wait.
